    I think Atkins and maybe also Shapiro are learning what every other Jays gm learns eventually: this ownership and these fans would never tolerate a Rays style organization. Ruthlessness in terms of thinking of players as assets is often in direct opposition of using those same players for marketing purposes.

    Some people don't understand this. Most importantly Manoah. There's dozens, maybe hundreds of millions of dollars at stake - and nobody can afford to buy him a subscription to macrofactor and someone to do meal prep? If you're fat, the time to reduce calories is now. Not in the offseason.

    Whether in season or off-season, Manoah has clearly been eating in a significant calorie surplus. If you are trying to put on lean mass (which he probably doesn't need to do), you do that in a very modest calorie surplus. Otherwise, he should be eating all year at maintenance calories relative to his activity level. He's fat because he's eating too much.

    Does our super science lab minor league system employ a nutritionist along with all the high speed cameras? I feel like distended abdomens have cost us a not insignificant number of wins the last couple of seasons.

    out of curiosity, how does a GG 1st baseman compare to an average SS in terms of value/wins?

    The org is not now, and will not be in the future, ruthless enough to let both of these guys walk. It would be a marketing disaster. Thanks to Shatkins, there is no one in the pipeline to replace them on the bobblehead roster, with the possible exception of RT. If someone is going to overpay - and someone will - it will be the BJs.

    Like manoah he's been overrated... The downside of a media company owning the team and doing such a good job at propaganda...err.. marketing. The 18 part documentary on manoah that Hazel did at the start of the season is a bit embarrassing in hindsight

    Pick any two of those and they are really fire-able offenses. But all of them? Fuuuu We know Atkins sucks. But what does Shapiro even do? He seems like a general contractor in charge of outfield renovations.
