Ah nvm, Shapiro stopped being a GM in 2010; in 2015, it was Antonetti. Guess they don't trust Antonetti's drafts lol

Pretty sure Shatkins was responsible for Lukes as well. He was drafted in 2015 before Shapiro came over in August/October and Atkins came over in October/December

I do not know why Lukes isn't getting a chance and until I do, I am not going to assume incompetence. He is a 28 yr old in AAA so maybe he'll only/always be an AAA dude. He was also drafted by the Shatkins camp before they came over, so they know his value than any of us ever will. - Damn Suwinski, nice grab

Considering Springer's injury uncertainty and we needed someone to cover OF, and it was a literal last second trade, it leads me to believe they wanted to someone else like Happ from Cubs but couldn't get the deal done (no one could, Cubs probably had a high price). Just because Atkins wants something doesn't mean the market is just going to bend over and give it to him.
