  1. Yimi on IL? Our bullpen man lol. Nice GIDP.
  2. Every game they should've lost, some pitcher came in during the late innings, had abysmal command, walked one or two, threw a meatball that was turned on. Happened with Garza Jr in Tampa, happened with Pressly yesterday. Its just some dark magic lol.
  3. To what end? We took 5 from them and almost took the 6th. I suppose Astros were lucky that Jays didn't beat them with a bigger run differential.
  4. I said this before but Romano has two bad habits. 1. He tries to get the opposing hitters to chase his off-strikezone slider before he even establishes his fastball (check the Tim Anderson at bat) - whether that's because he is scared they'll hit his fastball or something else, not sure. 2. When his fastball command is wonky, he defaults to using his sliders in the zone as strikes - and they get hit very hard, very easily. The moments he loses trust in his fastball are the moments he looks terrible. Same can be said for Kikuchi.
  5. So, if you take out the single outing against Yankees (even though the Stanton HR was just Stanton hitting it better than it was pitched, not a bad pitch; the rest were meatballs), Trent Thornton: 29 IP, 2.17 ERA, 1.1 WHIP, 2.0 K/BB, No HRs; his slider has been pretty lit. I wouldn't give up on him just yet.
  6. Just like what Romano did with the sliders to him
  7. Pressly with the super choke. Yankees walkoff on Judge Single, 7 - 6
  8. Hicks launches a 3-run HR in the 9th; 6 - 6
  9. Personally, if we can get either for something relatively not damning, I would definitely try as both of those guys can easily go into bullpen for the postseason and be elite with swing/miss. Stripling would go back into long-relief which would also help the bullpen during the season.
  10. No. I don't want to destroy our farm either tbh and Tiedemann is definitely looking too good to give up. I am kind of scared of going all-in considering all the behemoths in contention this year; feels like we already gave up way too much for pieces that aren't really working out this year. I rather have a rolling competitive window for the foreseeable future (whatever they decide Vladdy's contract to be) than go all-in for one or two years. But again that might just be me, this might be how WS races go. I haven't seen it in action .
  11. Yordan Alvarez hits a Vladdy-esque line drive 3-run HR (porched?). 6 - 3 Astros Astros offense is still good tbh. If they pick up some pitching, they can go all the way behind Verlander. They started really slow but now they are raking (we got extremely lucky that we faced them when their offense was in a lull).
  12. Bregman hits a 3-run HR against Taillon in the first inning. 3 - 0 Astros Stanton responds with his own 3-run HR against Valdez. 3 - 3
  13. Luis Castillo could also fit really well - he shut down the RSox when he faced them
  14. What would it actually take to get Montas - is it possible? Currently taking a no-hitter into the 8th against Ms
  15. Montoyo, apparently as been said here on the forum, likes running the pen like the Rays run the pen. Cash decided to use 5 arms to get through 2.1 innings. Then had to rely on a below average reliever in Garza Jr (due to their injured roster) to wrap up the game who ended up giving up the 2-run bomb to Trevino and lose the game. Might have worked if Rays had their full BP but as they have 3-4 guys of Jays caliber pen (mostly due to injuries), we can see the same results there as with what Charlie does . Stats/analysis is cool but there seems to be a bit too much trust in the reliever coming out of the pen every single time pitching their A-game or at least to their data-driven metrics. Sure, over the season, it'll all average out but game-to-game, its a cointoss.
  16. Pirates have a need for a catcher but I doubt Jansen would get it done for Bednar, simply because of the age (not sure when their window of contention is) and history of injury.
  17. Judge 2-HR Game, onto 27. God damn.
  18. Eh. Manoah is definitely our best (considering IP, ERA). He should've given up much less than 4 ER (2 at best) during the Yankees game if the umps were calling the pitches correctly. But Strip is definitely 2nd due to his consistency. Gausman has to figure it out, hopefully the start against Sox helps him. Berrios needs to get disciplined. Kikuchi needs to find fastball command and not forget it every other inning.
  19. I wonder how hard Rowdy is going to hurt us this coming series. Manoah v Burnes looks fun though.
  20. Like its NET 2 runs, but HE f***ED US FOR 4 f***ING RUNS. WTF.
  21. Man f*** that ump, jfc. We got f***ed twice extremely hard in two separate games and there's just no repercussions. What is this logic, why do the umps not have QC?
  22. Romano has two bad habits 1. He tries to "outsmart" the hitter he is anxious of by trying to bait swings (which they never do, and end up walking them) 2. When he has no fastball command, he defaults to using sliders and leaving them in the strikezone. Maybe he fixes them, iunno. Bo/Teo ABs have looked so aggravating. Springer hurt (even though he was also looking terrible at the plate) means we see more of Zimmer. Espinal/Chapman are cold again (espinal did get bit by the umpires a lot). Berrios/Kikuchi have become undependable. Gausman maybe has found it again today, who knows. Iunno, feels like we just can't keep it together to cruise through games.
