Min: I got backups that are legit for all of these positions at the moment, and I want some Starters.. let's make a deal!
BTS: I'd be interested in an Of/sp swap. Make me a wise offer.
Min: I know this isn't what you asked for (I will provide an offer like that shortly) but would you be interested in a Grandal+Donaldson package?
BTS: That depends on the cost. Both those guys come with pretty uncertain production. But yes.
Min: OK well here is what I see. Given my backups and position eligibility, pretty much any batter is available. Looking at your starters, I am gonna assume that Felix and Iwakuma are not in the picture, and Archer, Hernandez don't really make sense for me, and Davis Doubront and Locke don't really interest me. So that leaves Harvey (Who I am guessing would cost a King's ransom), Cobb and Lynn. I am particularly partial to Lynn. Would it take an OF to land him, or would a combination of upgrades at 2 or 3 positions for you make it work?
BTS: I think there's a deal to be made here. Your two least valuable outfielders are Rios and Holliday. This being a dynasty league, I wouldn't trade Lynn straight up for either one - he's been at least as good as both this year (he's been the 50th most valuable yahoo player) and there's a 6+ year age gap.
I would be interested in an expanded deal in which Lynn is the most valuable asset though. What would I need to add to him to get one of Rios/Holliday as well as Grandal and Donaldson?
*end night one*
BTS: Hey, Just wondering where you stand on what we were discussing yesterday. I'm trying to sort through my offers.
Min: It's gonna be hard for me to work on a deal, I am at a cottage for the weekend with limited email access. I like a deal structured around Rios for Lynn. I value them roughly equally, but I understand why you think Lynn's age is a factor versus Rios. If you have to have this sorted out by tomorrow evening, then go for it, byt I definitely still am interested.
BTS: I like the potential framework of a deal with you enough that I'll wait on other moves so we can try and work something out.
Min: OK. Let's talk tomorrow night? I'll be home/sober then.
Min: OK. Let's talk.. I like Lynn a lot. I worry though, about having to give up three good pieces for only one piece I am truly that interested in. What is your interest level in Murphy? Would a Murphy and Rios package be enough to land Lynn? Alternatively, what small piece would you kick in for a Rios+Donaldson, or a Rios+Grandal deal?
Let's keep this discussion open, I really think we are a good fit for something here.
BTS: I'm not very interested in Murphy.
What if the 2nd piece coming back from me was not small? Something like:
Holliday, Donaldson, Grandal
for
Lynn, Syndergaard?
Min: Ugh. I think you win that deal, fairly handily. Also, I am not sure how much sense it makes to trade "now" assetts for Syndergaard, given my circumstances.
Also, I would prefer to trade Rios over Holliday, I think. That's not a snagging point though, just a throw-in point I wanted to make.
Lemme think about it all. I'll try to come up with a counter offer, but if you have a different proposal, I am all ears. There is still a deal to be found here somewhere.
BTS: That's fair. If I'm getting two pieces, the two I'd like are Holliday and Donaldson. So I guess the question becomes what other smaller major league asset goes your way. Maybe give me an idea of what names would make sense for you.
