some rando I was listening to on YouTube (desperate for content after the signing) said he didn't think Bauer would play with Springer. Anyone know if there is legit beef there, or is this just an 'Astro's were cheaters' thing.

I don't really see how this is like the Hamilton deal at all. Josh was an all bat guy and had... other... red flags. I don't really see the comparison. -
So what does TO do about 3B now. Lots of interesting ways to go. Go get a vet 3B short term. Bryant, Turner, Seager. Go get a 2B and move Biggio to 3rd. Go get a SS and move Bichette to 3rd. Lots of SS/2B's out there. Semien, Wong, Tommy, Didi, Simmons. and then there is the Vlad factor. I don't believe in it, but it IS out there. Frankly I think our money needs to go to the rotation, so hopefully there is a deal to be had later in the off-season to help round out the IF. Having the flexibility to move guys around sure helps when looking for a bargain.

I knew that didn't sound right. DJ is like 32 1/2 right now, so the final year of the deal he would be playing at around 37.

I've still got a soft spot for Pax. I hope we get him on a short deal to rebuild his value. Hell, get him AND Bauer. Staff made up almost entirely of guys who have at one point been top-flight pitchers Bauer Ryu Pax Ray Pearson

I do like Bauer the best of them all as I think our staff could benefit the most from an upgrade. I don't mind Springs tho, especially if you could augment it with Kim who we could try out in the OF without him being expected to be a starter.

What does IR have to do with this draft? Shouldn't we all come out of this with 20 NHL assets?

Yeah I think he's a no brainer target if he's interested in the team. Its one of those moves that has good upside while not being that risky as the dollar figures / years are just not high enough to hamstring you if he bombs. I do wonder how much having cred in foreign markets is worth to a team. You certainly see teams like the Mariners that are ALWAYS in consideration with NPB players, and seemingly TEX since the Darvish signing. It's not going to convince guys to come at a steep discount, but it seems to at least get you in the conversation.
