I think we are all fairly confident that this won't be the year it is all torn down (unless we go on an EPIC losing streak), and I'm fine with that.
If we miss the playoffs this year, we can give it one more go and if it doesn't go well, you can deal both EE and JB at next years deadline while they still have a year and a bit of control.
Just listened to Jeff Blair brag about how high Melky's BABIP was... like it was some sort of badge of honor. ITS EVEN HIGHER THAN MIKE TROUTS!!!
I'm pleasantly surprised Melky's BABIP is as low as it is.
Anyone want to take a shot stashing J. Montero? He's flashed some in the minors, but I can't afford to hold him and Straily as N/A players on my roster.
Best offer takes him likely.
Good to hear you wouldn't have done it, now I can not sweat the decision .
I have been trying to trade Garza for a while now and I didn't like any of my offers. It seems you had the market right when you said Kendrick was good value.
I took the gamble on Dee because he has the potential to be an impact producer in the SB category. Kendrick is way more consistent, but isn't an impact guy in any category. I guess Dee has age on his side too.
I guess we'll see what happens.
I'm looking to shop;
- Matt Garza or Dan Straily (one of the two)
- Domonic Brown
- James Loney
- Lorenzo Cain
Looking to get a longer term solution at 2b or 3b. Would include any 2b/3b on my roster (Plouffe or Dietrich) in those deals if it helped get it done. I'd also look at a trade to upgrade my picks (ie pick 20+ someone above for a higher pick).
I'm not looking to get Robinson Cano here, just an upgrade.
I was high on Gatewood for a while, but everything I read says he has contact issues. If we draft a hitter, I really want them to have a feel for hitting, not just tools.
Gordon intrigues me, I'd be happy with him at 11. Gordon and Hoffman anyone?
We just need to refine the process. I think we could have a replay system that would create some buzz. If you have a dedicated reply guy in EACH stadium (who is actually good at his job) and just have one of those secrete service ear pieces in the crew chiefs ear, calls could be made WAY faster (and on each questionable play). You could take out all the managers trundling their fat asses to the fat ass umps who then trundle over the the headsets. There is enough time between each AB to do this anyway.
