I don't mind getting Rios, but only if the price is very (very) low. He has hit quite well vs lefties in the past (and great this year) which is a weakness apparently on our club. Might be able to defensively. vs RHP Play Melky - LF Rios - RF Bautista - 3B Lawrie - 2B Lind - DH vs LHP play Melky - DH Rios - LF Bautista - RF Lind - Gibby will bench him anyway vs LHP. Doesn't really solve our problem at 3B/2B vs LHP however. -

Melky is worth a QC because he's going to produce around 2 WAR (worth +/- the 14M QC, depending what dollar figures per WAR you use), and getting a FA on a one year deal is worth something value-wise in its own right.

The Cubs are going to be my favorite NL team very soon. Rebuild in the perfect way. Stockpile potential impact position players, fill in with the ability to have a big payroll.
