Depends if you want to go full re-build. I wonder if the Cubbies would want Jose (depends when they want to go for it). They may want to use Starlin to get pitching, but a deal based on Starlin and Alcantara would be interesting (probably more pieces involved). Gives us our MIF for the next 6 years. Lets us trade Reyes at the same time. For the Cubs it gives them a nice veteran bat to anchor the middle of the lineup with Rizzo. They don't have an IF spot for Alcantara anyway and lets them bring up Russell. They need a CF, but having Soler and Bautista in the OF corners is pretty appealing.

We don't really have a choice but to do so. See how it goes and blow it up next year if we do the same. Not a great option, but the best we have available to us. -

I don't see any way we don't pick up Lind's option. He isn't going to produce a huge amount of surplus value, but he should be worth 6.5M (salary minus buyout). I'm on the record that I would keep Happ. He's inconsistent and a pain in the ass when he isn't in the rotation, but we need some depth if we are going to roll with the kids (which I would).

Anyone want Jason Vargas as a nice back-end starter option for this year? I can't see myself rostering him over the winter, but he has been solid this year. I'd be looking for future assets for him.

Seems to be really dependent on where you live. I don't remember much of any high school pregnancies at my school (although I'm sure there was one or two). But the smaller town my wife grew up in had TONS of them, and that is just like half an hour away in a much smaller community.
