The Toledo Mud Hens (16-20) dropped their fourth straight game Monday night after losing to the Buffalo Bisons, 4-1.
The story of the game, aside from the forceful gusts of New York wind, was Buffalo's ability to pitch out of jams, as Toledo's offense left ten batters stranded, leaving the bases loaded twice, including the ninth inning.
The Bisons struck first in the bottom of the first inning when Jesus Montero blasted a two-run home, his third of the season, over the left field wall to go up 2-0.
Toledo threatened in the top of the sixth inning with three consecutive singles off the bats of Dixon Machado, Chad Huffman, and Casey McGehee, but the Bisons' Scott Diamond induced Tyler Collins to bounce into a 6-4-3 inning ending double play.
Buffalo tacked on an insurance run in the bottom of the seventh thanks to an RBI single off the bat of Dalton Pompey, making it 3-0 Bisons.
The Mud Hens notched three consecutive singles again in the eighth inning courtesy of Wynton Bernard, Machado, and Huffman, and Bernard came around to score on Huffman's RBI single up the middle to cut the deficit to two, 3-1.
The Bisons' offense responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the eighth, extending their lead to 4-1, which is how it ended at Coca-Cola Field.
Daniel Norris (0-4) had a solid seven innings of work for the Mud Hens scattering eight hits, striking out four, walking one, and only allowing three runs. Preston Guilmet came in to pitch the eighth inning, allowing three hits and one run.
Buffalo's Scott Diamond earned the win while going 7.1 innings and surrendering one run off eight Mud Hen hits, and David Aardsma came on in the ninth to get his sixth save of the season.
Toledo's top three in the lineup (Bernard, Machado, Huffman), combined to go 7-12 with two doubles and an RBI.

PORTLAND, MAINE - The New Hampshire Fisher Cats came out on the wrong end of a pitchers' duel Monday night, dropping a 2-0 decision to the Portland Sea Dogs at Hadlock Field in Portland, Maine.
The Fisher Cats (18-18) couldn't extend their seven-game winning streak, falling one win shy of the franchise record of eight straight wins. The Sea Dogs (14-25) stifled the New Hampshire offense, allowing just three hits and two walks and fanning eleven batters. The Fisher Cats were hitless in five at-bats with runners in scoring position.
Portland struck first in the bottom of the second inning against Fisher Cats starter Shane Dawson (L, 1-2), who issued a leadoff walk to Ryan Court. Jake Romanski cracked a double to right field, moving Court to third base, and Rainel Rosario laced a one-out single up the middle, scoring Court and giving Portland the 1-0 lead.
The Sea Dogs tacked on one more in the bottom of the sixth, as Nate Freiman hammered a Dawson fastball over the center field fence to make it 2-0 Portland. That was all Portland would need, as starter Aaron Wilkerson (W, 2-1) fired 7.1 innings of two-hit baseball, and Chandler Shepherd (S, 4) pitched 1.2 innings of scoreless relief for his fourth save.
Dawson took the loss, allowing two runs on five hits and three walks in six innings while fanning seven. Brady Dragmire and Danny Barnes each gave up a hit in an inning apiece of shutout relief.
New Hampshire will try to start a new winning streak Tuesday night, with lefty John Anderson starting for the Fisher Cats against Portland righty Keith Couch. First pitch is at 6:00 p.m. from Hadlock Field, and Ben Gellman has the call starting at 5:45 p.m. on the Fisher Cats Radio Network.

DUNEDIN, Fla. (May 16, 2016) - The Fort Myers Miracle defeated the Dunedin Blue Jays, 5-2, at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium in the series opener on Monday evening.
Nick Gordon put the Miracle up in the first inning with his second home run of the season. With two outs, Gordon popped a 1-0 pitch from Dunedin starter Brad Allen over the wall in right center field to give Fort Myers a 1-0 lead.
The Miracle extended the lead in the top of the fifth, scoring four runs and sending nine batters to the plate. Brian Navarreto started the rally by drawing a one-out walk from Allen (3-2). Austin Diemer then hit a high chopper to short. Richard Urena's throw to second base sailed into right field. Navarreto advanced to third base.
With runners on the corners, Logan Wade stepped up and pulled a 2-0 pitch down the first base line for a two-run triple with Navarreto and Diemer coming in to score. Chris Paul followed Wade's three-bagger with a double over Anthony Alford's glove to bring in Wade. Gordon posted the third consecutive Miracle hit with a single through the right side and Paul advanced to third base. With Trey Vavra at the dish, Gordon took off and stole second base. D-Jays catcher Michael De La Cruz's throw bounced up in the air off Devon Travis. Paul broke from third and Travis, after recovering the loose ball, threw wild to home plate. Paul scored to put the Miracle up 5-0.
Miracle starter Kohl Stewart struggled with his command, but still dealt six scoreless frames. Stewart (3-1) used 99 pitches, 57 strikes, to navigate three walks and two hit batters to strand eight Blue Jays. Allowing just three hits, Stewart struck out four and lowered his ERA on the season to 1.77.
Brandon Peterson spelled Stewart in the seventh and tossed two perfect frames with three strikeouts. Raul Fernandez pitched the ninth and surrendered a two-run homer to De La Cruz before retiring the side.
Allen exited the game after 4.1 innings and gave up five runs, four earned, on seven his with three walks and two strikeouts.
The Miracle (22-16) continue a four-game set with the Blue Jays (15-23) at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium on Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. Tyler Jay (3-2) will start on the mound for the Miracle opposite Dunedin's Francisco Rios (0-1).
