In the first game of the Buffalo three-game series from Huntington Park in Columbus, the Herd came through with a 12-hit performance, including a big three-run home run by A.J. Jimenez, giving the club the lead it would not relinquish. In the eighth inning, with the game tied at four, Darrell Ceciliani doubled and Junior Lake walked, bringing up A.J. Jimenez. The Bison catcher connected off reliever Jeff Johnson for a three-run home run to left field, giving the Herd a 7-4 lead. Roberto Hernandez allowed four runs on 11 hits in five innings of work, before the Bisons' bullpen shut down the Clippers. Four Buffalo relievers allowed no runs, no walks and just a lone hit over four innings. Dustin Antolin recorded a perfect ninth inning for the Herd, notching his fifth save of the season. Jesus Aguilar struck first for the Clippers with a first inning RBI double off Hernandez. In the bottom of the third, Colin Cowgill droped a RBI single into left field, putting Columbus up 2-0. Michael Choice hit a high fly ball to left that carried just enough to leave the yard, as the home run made it a 3-0 game. The Bisons threatened in the third, loading the bases against starter T.J. House. However, the lefty-starter induced Matt Dominguez to fly out to left, ending the inning. In the fourth, House fanned Junior Lake swinging, stranding runners on second and third. Buffalo got on the scoreboard in the top of the fifth. Devon Travis shot a single into center field, scoring A.J. Jimenez, who reached on a double, making it a 3-1 ballgame. House escaped further trouble in the fifth, as Jesus Montero grounded into an inning-ending double play. The Clippers turned to the bullpen in the sixth, as House exited after 98 pitches, six strikeouts and four walks allowed. In the sixth, facing Kyle Crockett, Darrell Ceciliani drove home Domonic Brown with a RBI double, cutting the game to 3-2. Junior Lake tied the game for the Bisons with a groundball to first. The throw to the plate by first baseman Jesus Aguilar was late, allowing Andy Burns to score. The Herd then took a 4-3 lead on a groundball double play by A.J. Jimenez, as Ceciliani scored. A solo-shot by Clippers' catcher Adam Moore lead off the sixth, evening the score at four. Hernandez was removed following a walk to Michael Choice in the sixth, and Ben Rowan ended the inning with a strikeout of Tyler Naquin. In his second rehab appearance for the Herd, Aaron Loup picked up a pair of strikeouts in the bottom of the seventh, and was rewarded with his first win of the season. Bo Schultz also pitched a perfect eighth inning for Buffalo. Jeff Johnson entered in the seventh for the Columbus. Johnson pitched a scoreless seventh inning before allowing the Jimenez three-run shot in the eighth, and was relieved by righty Ben Heller. The righty allowed two hits and no runs in one and 1/3 innings of work. Chris Leroux will take the mound for the Herd on Wednesday, squaring off against fellow right-hander Will Roberts. First pitch from Huntington Park is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. BISONS NOTES: David Aardsma opted out of his minor league contract with the Blue Jays on Monday. Aardsma posted a 5.27 ERA and a team-leading six saves with the Bisons in 2016… On Tuesday, Devon Travis went 1-5 with a RBI single, and was robbed of a hit by a dive in centerfield by Tyler Naquin in the eighth. This came before he was removed defensively in the middle of Adam Moore's at bat in the bottom of the eighth inning. Travis has played in five rehab games with the Herd in the past week, and is now batting .282 in his stint with Buffalo... The Bisons' have now won six of their last eight ballgames, and move a game above .500 on the year… Roberto Hernandez has yet to go deeper than five and 2/3 innings in any of his six starts this season. His 11 hits allowed on Tuesday are a season high for the right-hander… Darrell Ceciliani picked up two hits in a game for just the second time this season. He went 2-5 on May 18 against Toledo. http://i.imgur.com/MvDbUIU.png http://i.imgur.com/tptCEhb.png http://i.imgur.com/WC0QwyS.png http://i.imgur.com/iOfHyka.png http://www.milb.com/assets/images/8/0/0/172596800/cuts/Anderson_John_5546_schofield_jwhtyeav_18xdagmw.jpg John Anderson TRENTON - The New Hampshire Fisher Cats dropped a heartbreaking decision in extra innings Tuesday night, falling 3-2 to the Trenton Thunder in 11 frames at ARM & HAMMER Park in Trenton. The Fisher Cats (20-23) lost their second straight and fourth in their last five games, despite rallying twice to tie the score. The Thunder (24-19) benefited from an early RBI single from New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez, with Trenton for two games on an injury rehab. The Thunder got to Fisher Cats starter John Anderson in the bottom of the third inning. Cito Culver and Tyler Wade drew consecutive walks to lead off the frame, and Mark Payton hit a bouncer to second that retired Wade on a fielder's choice. Rodriguez then sliced a single up the middle, plating Culver and giving Trenton the 1-0 lead. The Fisher Cats equalized in the top of the seventh against new Trenton reliever J.R. Graham. Rowdy Tellez welcomed him to the game with a double up the right field line. After Matt Dean struck out looking, Dwight Smith, Jr. laced a double to the left-center field gap to score Tellez and even the game at 1-1. Trenton retook the lead in the bottom of the seventh against Fisher Cats reliever Danny Barnes, who gave up a leadoff single to Culver, and then surrendered back-to-back singles with one out to Mark Payton and Rodriguez. With the bases loaded, Barnes walked Tyler Austin, bringing home the go-ahead run. It was just the third walk of the year for Barnes, and it put Trenton back in front 2-1. New Hampshire tied it back up in the ninth against new reliever Tyler Jones (W, 2-1). Tellez led off the inning with a double into the right field corner, and Dean singled pinch-runner Ian Parmley to third. Dwight Smith delivered again for New Hampshire, cracking a single to center to score Parmley and tie the game 2-2. In the bottom of the 11th, Trenton finally broke through against Fisher Cats reliever Brady Dragmire (L, 1-3). Culver led off the frame with a single, and moved to third on groundouts by Wade and Payton. Juan Silva, who had pinch-hit for Rodriguez in the ninth inning, looped a single over Lopes' head at second base, scoring Culver and giving Trenton the 3-2 win. Anderson earned a no-decision, allowing a run on five hits and two walks over six innings; he struck out two batters. Barnes allowed a run on three hits and a walk over two innings, fanning one. Dragmire took the loss, surrendering a run on two hits in two-thirds of an inning. The Fisher Cats will try to get back on the winning track Wednesday night, with righty Casey Lawrence starting for New Hampshire against Trenton lefty Dietrich Enns. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., and Ben Gellman has the call starting at 6:45 p.m. on the Fisher Cats Radio network. http://i.imgur.com/sWsf9F0.png http://i.imgur.com/zLxyJuu.png http://i.imgur.com/2GZPIeq.png http://www.milb.com/assets/images/9/3/8/180052938/cuts/You_can_t_catch_it_with_your_eyes_closed_T43A6017_hiq0v8cp_oawgvicz.jpg Derrick Loveless DUNEDIN, FL - The Dunedin Blue Jays (20-26) overcame an early three run deficit against the Lakeland Flying Tigers (25-20) to take the first of a three game set with a 7-5 victory. CF Anthony Alford boomed his first home run of the season, part of a five-run seventh inning for the Jays. Lakeland jumped out to the tune of three runs in the first two innings against RHP Justin Shafer. CF Ross Kivet began the game with a home run, and 1B Wade Hinkle added a solo shot of his own an inning later. Shafer allowed four runs, three earned, over five innings in which he battled all night long. In the bottom of the second, a pair of leadoff singles by Alford and LF D.J. Davis, and a SS A.J. Simcox throwing error, put runners at second and third against starter RHP A.J. Ladwig (L, 6-3). A groundout and sac fly later, it was a one run game. The Flying Tigers added one more in the fourth, going up 4-2, and that is how the score would stay until the bottom of the seventh inning. Ladwig allowed Alford to pull the Jays within one with an opposite field home run. With one out, RF Derrick Loveless reached on an infield single, then stole second base. 2B Dickie Joe Thon followed by taking a two-strike curveball to the opposite field, scoring Loveless and tying the game. Ladwig's night was done after Thon's at-bat, going 6.1 and allowing five runs, four earned, on seven hits with a season-high seven strikeouts. RHP Adam Ravenelle began his relief appearance by loading the bases with a pair of walks. SS Richard Urena stepped up and delivered a bases clearing triple to left-center, putting Dunedin up 7-4. LHP Colton Turner's (W, 1-0) two scoreless innings in relief of Shafer earned him his first win of 2016. RHP Adonys Cardona (H, 6) held serve in the eighth for a pair of outs, while RHP Carlos Ramirez (S, 6) found the tying run at the plate two separate times, but earned a four-out save. Dunedin throws out RHP Conner Greene on Wednesday night against Lakeland in game two. RHP Jeff Thompson goes for the Flying Tigers with first pitch at 6:30 pm. http://i.imgur.com/duHqkC7.png http://i.imgur.com/ifEOZhF.png http://i.imgur.com/Acd5wDl.png http://www.milb.com/assets/images/4/0/6/180053406/cuts/Lane_Thomas_y176vm73_70kmioea.png Lane Thomas LANSING, Mich. - Held to one hit and one run through the first six innings, the Lansing Lugnuts tied up the Fort Wayne TinCaps with a seventh-inning rally before walking off with a 4-3 win on Tuesday night at Cooley Law School Stadium. The Lugnuts improved to 23-20 with the series-opening victory, enjoying their second walk-off win of the year against the TinCaps. Fort Wayne's record fell to 23-22. Seven of the last ten Lugnuts games have been decided by one run. Ryan Hissey led off the bottom of the ninth against Fort Wayne reliever Angel Mejia (Loss, 1-2) with a single off of drawn-in third baseman Carlos Belen. Hissey was replaced on the basepaths by Lane Thomas on a fielder's choice. With Gunnar Heidt at the plate, Thomas stole second base. Heidt followed with a bouncer up the middle, deflecting off of Mejia's glove to charging second baseman Kodie Tidwell - but Tidwell's throw to first base was wild as Thomas dashed around with the winning run. The initial story of the game was Fort Wayne starter Enyel De Los Santos, who allowed only a Josh Almonte sixth-inning RBI single during six dominant frames, striking out five. As soon as De Los Santos exited the game, though, the Lugnuts' offense awoke. Trailing 3-1 entering the seventh, the Lugs ambushed the TinCaps reliever Nick Monroe (Blown Save, 3). Four consecutive Lugnuts hit safely, finishing with an RBI single from Thomas and a game-tying RBI double by Heidt. Lansing starter Angel Perdomo tossed five innings, allowing three runs (one earned) on five and two walks, and striking out seven TinCaps. He was followed by sterling work by a pair of relievers: Gustavo Pierre escaped a bases-loaded jam in the sixth before tossing a perfect seventh, and Dan Lietz (Win, 4-0) locked down the TinCaps' bats in the eighth and ninth innings. The second game of the three-game set is a Winning Wednesday starting at 10:35 a.m.: If the Lugnuts win, you win! Lansing left-hander Ryan Borucki (0-1, 3.27) opposes Fort Wayne right-hander Jacob Nix (0-0, 2.10). Kings 3 Stars of the Night 1) Angel Perdomo: The hard throwing LHP continued to dominate the Midwest League on Tuesday night going 5 innings with 7 strikeouts. 2) Darrell Ceciliani: Ceciliani, who has struggled quite a bit this season, had a great night at the plate going 2/3 with 2 doubles and 2 walks. 3) Anthony Alford: Alford stayed hot going 2/4 wth a home run. Kings Platinum Arencibia 1) Roberto Hernandez: Hernandez was terrible going 5 innings giving up a whopping 11 hits, 2 home runs, 4 earned runs and only 1 strikeout.
