Coming in losing 10 of their last 14 games, Buffalo outhit Lehigh Valley 20-3, thanks to multi-hit games by seven Herd hitters, and a strong outing by starter Casey Lawrence. The IronPigs were looking for their first sweep of the Bisons since entering IL in 2008, taking the first three games of a four-game series. Instead, the Bisons beat their IL North rival in their final road game against Lehigh Valley this season. A tremendous start for Casey Lawrence was rewarded with his second win as a Bison. The righty tossed 6.2 innings, allowing three hits and one earned run. Lawrence held Lehigh Valley to one hit, one walk and no runs for the first six innings. The Herd took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. With Ben Lively on the mound for the 'Pigs, a leadoff nine-pitch walk to Dalton Pompey and a Jesus Montero single brought up Darrell Cecilaini. The Bisons' left fielder lined a shot into left, when Pompey chugged home to beat a throw from Cam Perkins. Buffalo tacked-on nine more runs to hit double-digit runs for the first time since June 4. Shane Opitz went 2-5 in collecting his first two Triple-A hits, coming up big in the fourth inning. A pair of singles brought up Opitz with one out, and the 24-year old shortstop lined a single that scored Casey Kotchman. A batter later, Dalton Pompey dropped a single into right field, scoring two more runs, bringing the Herd's lead to 4-0. Buffalo went up 6-0 in the fifth, loading the bases against Lively. Casey Kotchman grounded into a 5-4-3 double play, scoring Montero in the process. Wilkin Castillo then doubled to bring home Ceciliani, knocking Lively out of the ballgame. Dalier Hinojosa took over for Lively in the fifth, and allowed three runs in the sixth. A Dalton Pompey triple was followed by a Domonic Brown RBI single in the frame. Brown came across to score on a fielder's choice by Ceciliani, and Kotchman picked up a RBI single, making it a 9-0 game. Another RBI single by Pompey made it 10-1 Buffalo against reliever Elvis Araujo in the top of the ninth. Pompey finished the afternoon 4-5 with three RBI. Going 3-4 was Wilkin Castillo, who picked up his first RBI as a Bison. Every Buffalo hitter had at least one hit, except Matt Dominguez, with seven batters having multi-hit games. Casey Lawrence retired 11 of the first 12 hitters he faced, not allowing a hit until Andrew Knapp singled in the bottom of the fourth inning. Nick Williams doubled to lead off the seventh to become the IronPigs' first baserunner since the fourth. Lehigh Valley finally got on the scoreboard two batters later, as Max Stassi ripped a double to score Williams. Matt Dermody relieved Lawrence with a runner on second and two outs in the seventh, striking out Cedric Hunter looking. Franklin Morales appeared in his 10th rehab game with Buffalo, pitching a scoreless eighth inning. 2016 Triple-A All-Star Dustin Antolin sealed the win in the ninth. Ben Lively was roughed up for 10 hits and six runs, three of which were earned, pitching his shortest outing of 2016, lasting 4.2 innings. It was also a rough game defensively for the IronPigs, who committed three errors. Ryan Goins sat out Sunday's game, after playing in both Friday and Saturday's contests. The Blue Jays' second baseman is rehabbing with the Bisons, after being placed on the disabled list on July 2 with a forearm strain. The Herd returns home on Monday to take on the Norfolk Tides for a three-game series. Drew Hutchison will take the bump for Buffalo, his first start at Triple-A since a win against Louisville on June 28. Ariel Miranda is scheduled to pitch for Norfolk, with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m. at Coca-Cola Field. BISONS NOTES: The 20 hits the Bisons totaled is their new season-high, besting their previous high of 19 set on June 4… Dalton Pompey went 4-5, as his batting average on the road increases to .333… Jesus Montero passed Casey McGehee of Toledo for the IL lead in hits with his first inning single, his 107th base knock of the season. He added two more hits later in the game…. In 10 rehab games with the Bisons, Franklin Morales has tossed nine shutout outings, owning a 1.13 ERA in 8.0 innings of work. http://i.imgur.com/ZOoIQ37.png http://i.imgur.com/JLOs7f9.png http://i.imgur.com/Lv8L87N.png http://i.imgur.com/4Y7TLob.png Portland, ME ---Rowdy Tellez broke a 4-4 tie with a single in the top of the eighth inning and the Fisher Cats bullpen worked three perfect innings in a 5-4 win in Portland on Sunday. New Hampshire (42-51) came into the eighth trailing 4-3. Christian Lopes singled and stole second, scoring on a base hit by Jason Leblebijian. Leblebijian took second when his single got past the Portland right fielder. He would score on the Tellez single. John Stilson (4-0), who had struck out the side in the seventh inning, earned the win. Chris Smith worked the final two innings for his fourth save as the Fisher Cats earned a split of the four-game series. New Hampshire opened the scoring in the top of the first inning. Roemon Fields tripled and scored on a groundout by Jason Leblebijian for a 1-0 lead. The Sea Dogs (34-59) tied the game in the bottom of the first inning on doubles by Yoan Moncada and Andrew Benintendi against Fisher Cats starter Shane Dawson. The Fisher Cats took a 3-1 lead in the top of the second inning. Dwight Smith Jr. and Jorge Saez singled to start the inning and both advanced on a successful sacrifice by Derrick Loveless. Jorge Flores doubled into the left field corner to pick up two RBI. Portland cut the lead to 3-2 in the bottom of the frame. Rainel Rosario doubled, advanced to third on a single by Danny Bethea, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Mauricio Dubon. The Sea Dogs moved in front for the first time in the bottom of the fifth inning. Moncada and Benintendi drew walks with Moncada scoring on a single by Ryan Court. Benintendi put Portland up 4-3 when he scored on a groundout by Cody Decker. Dawson left after working six innings, allowing four runs on six hits. He walked three and struck out four for the Fisher Cats. Portland's Austin Maddox (2-2) was tagged with the blown save and loss. The Fisher Cats open a seven-game home stand on Monday night against the Reading Fightin Phils. The game will resume on Monday as part of a doubleheader, with the first pitch of the tenth inning scheduled for 5:00. The Stone Crabs had a 3-2 lead going into the ninth, but Nick Sawyer and Diego Castillo combined to lose the save. Sawyer loaded the bases with two out, threw ball one to Andrew Guillotte, and left the game for Castillo, whose first pitch went through the legs of catcher Armando Araiza and to the backstop for the tying run. Tune in tomorrow night at 5 for the conclusion of Sunday's game and the full seven innings for Monday's regularly scheduled contest on the Stone Crabs Radio Network! http://i.imgur.com/BUkB1WH.png http://i.imgur.com/uvaOZyp.png http://i.imgur.com/PFdJrIO.png http://i.imgur.com/zk8rzVW.png BURLINGTON, IA - 19-year-old Toronto Blue Jays pitching prospect Justin Maese took a no-decision in his Lugnuts debut, as Lansing (15-9, 51-43) fell to the Burlington Bees (12-12, 44-50), 7-5, on Sunday afternoon at Community Field. The Lugnuts suffered their fourth loss in five games on their Western Division road trip after the Bees scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning against Lugnuts reliever Josh DeGraaf (Loss, 5-6). Bees slugger Alexi Rivera put Burlington ahead for good with a two-run homer off DeGraaf. Maese settled down after a rocky start in his first Midwest League game. He hit Bees leadoff hitter Michael Hermosillo with his very first pitch, and then walked the next batter he faced before giving up a two-run single to Brendon Sanger. Maese gave up two more runs in the third, but the tenth-ranked Blue Jays prospect, according to MLB Pipeline, settled down in the fourth, inducing nine groundouts from the next ten batters he faced. He threw six complete innings, giving up four runs on eight hits with one walk and no strikeouts. Juan Kelly went 3-for-4 at the plate and launched his team-leading tenth home run of the season in the top of the third on a towering shot to right field, scoring Justin Atkinson for a 4-2 lead. But the Bees tied it back up at 4-4 with two runs in the bottom of the third on an RBI double by Matt Thaiss and an RBI single for Rivera, who went 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs. Brendon Sanger added three more RBIs for Burlington. For the second straight day, the Lugnuts opened the scoring in the top of the first. With runners at the corners, Lansing executed a double steal, as Kelly went dashing for second and John La Prise scampered home to make it 1-0. Carl Wise followed with an RBI double to make it 2-0. Wise was struck in the hand with a pitch during the sixth inning, but he remained in the game and put the Lugnuts ahead, 5-4, scoring from third base on an RBI single to right by Ryan Metzler. After dropping two of three games in a duel of pitchers at Peoria, the Lugnuts have now given up 19 runs on 27 hits through the first two games in Burlington. On Monday night, another top Blue Jays pitching prospect heads to the mound, as Jon Harris (8-1, 2.28 ERA) tries to avoid the sweep at the hands of the Bees. Burlington counters with prospect right-hander Jaime Barria (8-4, 3.56). First pitch scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Eastern time. The Lugnuts return to Michigan's state capital on Wednesday, July 20th, opening up a six-game homestand against the Clinton LumberKings and the Kane County Cougars. Kings Platinum Arencibia 1) Bradley Jones: Jones went 0/7 with 5 strikeouts. Bluefield struck out 34 times in the 20 inning game.. which included 4 straight scoreless innings, vs position players. Yikes!
  6. Former Bluefield radio guy tweeted that the game would have ended at 1 AM, no matter what happened. That would have been anti climatic. I guess that's a rule, learn something new everyday. JW Gravley ‏@jwgravley 11m11 minutes ago 20. Count them... 20! The 20th inning is about to be played between @BluefieldJays & @GvilleAstros. Game will stop at 1 AM no matter what.
  7. And it's over, god damnit. That was fun. Bluefield loses in the bottom of the 20th.
  8. Levi Scott, on Bluefield, is 3/9 with 2 doubles a home run and 5 strikeouts Bluefield strikeout numbers, are something http://i.imgur.com/EFX5k7D.png Ayyy.. to the 20th.
  9. That's true, I didn't think of it, I'm sure they have. Still impressive noneoftheless.
  10. This is truely something. 4 scoreless innings for Greenevilles position players, to the bottom of the 19th. Bluefield bringing in a position player to pitch now, Juandy Mendoza, just lol
  11. I didn't realize this, but Greenevilles position players have pitched 3 scoreless innings lmao
  12. Yep. Greeneville runner just got thrown at home plate in the bottom of the 18th.. would have been game over. He tried to score from 2nd on a single to the outfield. 19th now, baseball forever!
  13. Bottom of the 18th now. In the top of the 18th Pruitt was tagging up from 2nd to 3rd on a deep flyball, that was bobbled by the cutoff man when it was thrown back in, so Pruitt tried to take home but he was thrown out. 6 hour long game.. Vancouver Canadians game is over, before this one (Vancouver one started 3 hours later).
  14. http://www.milb.com/common/tunein_popup.jsp?ti_id=s170521&city=Greeneville&team=Astros&abbrev=GRN 17th inning
  15. I would have cut Alen Hanson and called it a day... but...
  16. Bluefield game is in the top of the 14th Bluefield has struck out 27 (!) times, in 57 plate appearances.
  17. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/07/cafardos-latest-encarnacion-jays-bosox-moore-os-royals.html Left-hander Matt Moore is the likeliest Rays starter to end up on the move, team executives believe. Having posted a 4.33 ERA, 7.58 K/9 and 2.63 BB/9 through 116 1/3 innings, the 27-year-old is drawing interest from the Blue Jays, Dodgers, Royals, Red Sox, Orioles, Marlins and Rangers (notably, Rob Bradford of WEEI reported Saturday that the Rays aren’t open to dealing with division-rival Boston; the same might hold true with Baltimore and Toronto). Moore is reasonably priced via club options through 2019. Thoughts?
  18. Sounds like she would fit in well here. You should tell her to make an account.
  19. Agreed, injury epidemic reaching an all time high.
