  1. Don't make it too complicated brah. We all know that: more people in stadium -> more CO2 - > heavier air - > more drop in the ball - > encourages more sinkers to be thrown - > more runners will want to run knowing a ground ball will come - > leading to more stealing chances
  2. Yes, that's one metric that could be in play, but I lumped it in with sample size (if catchers are given similar # of innings to catch, there will be more attempts with the speedsters).
  3. Martin has a great arm. He's had several opportunities where he shouldn't have got a runner out (due to jumps) but he did. Is Rivera's better than his? Probably. Probably not. We'd have to scout him for a lot longer to come up with that.
  4. It's not my intention to spite, I'm just spelling it out that CS % is not a good metric to use because it can be very unreliable. And I listed the reasons why up there. If you really want to find a metric that would quantify the best catcher overall, I'd just take defensive WAR. Martin is nearly 1 full point ahead of Perez as best catcher in the league. (6.2 vs 5.3). Rivera is at 3.7. Also, another thing about CS %. Sample size. Rivera is at 9/19 while Martin is 18/18 (CS/SB)
  5. what the f***. Why did you get all mad? I didn't even write that in a negative tone. And then you call me a prick? lol
  6. Never knew Donaldson was this popular. Apparently has more votes in 3B for the ASG than Machado, Beltre and Sandoval combined. Still being beat by Moose, though.
  7. I don't like CS %. It's just like ERA. The stat can be influenced outside of the player's control. In regards to CS %, yyou have soooo many factors -is the pitcher quick to home plate? -does the pitcher have a good move to first -does the pitcher hold the ball or vary the timing after being set? -is the pitch a good pitch to receive (fastball vs offspeed) -was the pitch thrown in a good spot for the catcher to release? -did the player at the bag receive the throw cleanly? We will never get an appropriate metric to judge catcher's throwing because it is too subjective. You'd have to look at arm velocity, accuracy, and time between receiving the ball and unloading. It'd be tough to get a metric such as that. And even if you get all of those, you still have factors out of your control, such as the pitcher and infielders.
  8. Man, how about that Josh Hamilton..
  9. Donaldson is doing his best to win the game, while Reyes is doing his best to lose it.
  10. all the blame rests on Travis. He played through the injury and didn't bother telling the brass until it was too late. And now he still insists that he can play through it.
  11. If you try this before the game starts you may have trouble moving down, but if you do this say, after the 3rd inning, and pretend to play the part (have some food that you ordered with you), you can sneak in.
  12. Izturis' Jays career is over. He tore his shoulder: http://www.thescore.com/news/772577
  13. Just caught this on reddit.. Apparently Musgrove has a 54/1 KK/BB ratio in 45 innings! He was in the Happ deal for the Astros.
  14. Let's ship off Italian dude
  15. Just wait for the deadline. Someone will bite. Any team out there with a huge payroll and weak at SS?
  16. they all do. Remember Donaldson has a derp a few days ago too.
  17. Throw in some blue/white contrasting colors, the Blue Jays stencil lettering for #FYSMC, maybe an option "69" lettering for the back, and you got a business going.
  18. duuuude I'd totally buy that. I already have my "running thru the 6ix with my stro" shirt from jaywalk if you designed that I strongly suggest you try and sell it through teespring. I'd buy it, srsly.
  19. Donaldson has great range, great fielding, strong arm, terrible accuracy Lawrie has great range, great fielding, strong arm, strong accuracy That's enough to make him superior And just cause defensive war will probably list him as better than Lawrie doesn't mean much to me. Remember when WAR was showing Lawrie as a supergod? There are flaws in every metric, and I think having all the facets of defensive ability lumped up into a single metric masks some flaws. If I had to choose between Donaldson's defense and Lawrie's defense, I'll always take Lawrie, even if the metric shows him higher.
  20. I really don't care if Lawrie can become good. Lawrie is not performing right now but he's still young enough and talented enough to reach his potential. And even at his best, he can't even touch Donaldson offensively. Defensively, Lawrie is superior to Donaldson (the fact that he can throw at least to me puts him above Donaldson) but that is not enough to mask the offensive gap between the two. And Donaldson has years of control. Barreto hurts, yes, but he was years away and we can always replace guys like that every year. Graveman and Nolin are nice but they are depth pieces. We have way more pitching prospects that are more talented than them.
  21. Los Angeles Dodgers ‏@Dodgers ·27 mins27 minutes ago Today, the #Dodgers recalled OF Chris Heisey from Triple-A Oklahoma City and designated RHP Sergio Santos for assignment.
  22. There goes one trade candidate Robert Murray ‏@RobertMurrayBBE ·10 mins10 minutes ago Scott Kazmir, a prime trade candidate, was removed from the game due to injury. Some saying he was pointing at his left shoulder. #Athletics
  23. He tries to do too much. and yeah his swing is just atrocious. It's as if he is swinging using his upper body. And I said this before - the guy fails at recognizing pitches, so he probably chooses to swing at a pitch before it's thrown. "I'm going to guess fastball here, and if it's not fastball, oh well" *proceeds to swing at a pitch near his eyes*
