Kind of a derpy playoffs we're having here. Let's change up the rules and just go with extra base hits instead of homers.

You overestimate a lot of front offices, which means the ones that do understand his value, won't have to pay through the nose for it. Add to that his season this year is a pretty big outlier from the 5 prior to this.

Except Martin doesn't have the offensive numbers that teams still covet, rightly or wrongly. Martin is not McCann in the eyes of baseball FO's everywhere, so why would AA be forced to pay a McCann-esque contract for him? I'm not arguing that he isn't valuable, I'm just saying that his type of value is not one that gets guys the big pay days so there's no need to set that precedent if you don't have too.

That doesn't mean you have to pay him like one if the market doesn't pay for framing. Also, being on the wrong side of 30 as a catcher and you really need to go to 4 years, that's a lot of risk on a position notorious for bad health. 2 years(24m) plus an option for 12 more(1.5 buyout) is as far as I would go, give or take 1 million per year if that's what it took.

I dunno, some people just don't get that certain stats are stupid like ERA, dont understand park factors, use bad sample-size based arguments because they don't know what a real sample size is for the numbers they are quoting, and you end up with this train wreck where someone is so confident that what they are saying is true, when in reality he's further out in left field than that monstrosity in the Marlins home park. It's entertaining really.

If there was a case to be made that he would slot into the majors immediately and be an impact player.... Maybe for the richest teams. But even then, they'd be paying tax on the signing bonus, plus very likely a luxury tax on his salary. It just won't happen. -
Not to mention the fact that the "hive mind" these idiots keep referring to is still the huge minority voice when it comes to baseball as a whole. I guess it's okay for the old school to be a hive mind, just not anyone else.

Buffalo only 1 game out of a wildcard and are playing the Red Sox affiliate right now, wwho is the team they're chasing. Stomped them 15-2 last night. They might actually make the playoffs and having Norris there for that would be nice.

Of course one, he's subject to the international signing cap. No team would take a tax on up to 85 million just for 1 guy who wouldn't even be going straight to the majors. -

Except as otherwise set forth in Sections II.D.2-4 below, to be timely, a Manager must exercise his challenge (by verbal communication to the appropriate Umpire), or the Crew Chief must initiate Replay Review (if applicable pursuant to Section II.C above) before the commencement of the next play or pitch. Such challenge or request will be considered timely only if the Umpire acknowledges that communication within the time period specified above. For purposes of these Regulations, the next "play" shall commence when the pitcher is on the rubber preparing to start his delivery and the batter has entered the batter's box (unless the defensive team initiates an appeal play in which case any call made during the play prior to the appeal still may be subject to Replay Review). A challenge to a play that ends the game must be invoked immediately upon the conclusion of the play, and both Clubs shall remain in their dugouts until the Replay Official issues his decision. No substitutions or pitching changes may take place while the Umpires are in the process of invoking Replay Review.
