  1. Mods can lock this please.
  2. Only reason I made the playoffs in the first half is picking Tolleson for two of his three homers.
  3. It's not hindsight. The writers then all knew guys cheated, the only difference is that writers kept quiet because they knew if they wrote anything bad about players, they'd have no job. Back then, writers covered one team, and it was all newspapers. The only difference is that now, the fans know as well and now the writers can climb on their high holy horse and admonish the new generations cheaters while pretending their own generation wasn't just as dirty. Now, with the internet, mass national media, social media, now they don't have to worry about biting the hand that feeds them. It's a ridiculous double standard. And yes, IMO, it is wrong to hold someone out now for cheating, when you already have cheaters in. If you really think the Hall of fame should be cheater free, you should be actively against all cheaters in the hall, not just the new ones. It's all ego. The old time HOF members think they have to continue to support the ******** pretence that their generation was clean, because if they didnt they'd have to admit that they're the same as Bonds. And they dont want to do that because of all the negativity around him, so they go public with all their " I'll boycott the hall of fame ceremony if Bonds is inducted" trash to protect themselves and their fake legacy. It's hypocrisy at it's finest. If any of those old codgers had an ounce of integrity, they would come out and admit publicly that the hall of fame is already full of cheats, and it needs to be cleaned up. Fat chance of that happening.
  4. Who mentioned racism about Ty Cobb? Sure he was a raging bigot, but I'm talking about him intentionally trying to hurt other players on the field, spiking every guy he could where he slid into a base. The fact that he hated anyone who wasn't white is just further proof. Why are you holding Bonds to a different standard than those who are already in the Hall?
  5. Pompey hitting .450 in his last 10... Ops over 1.000... Looks like he made a nice adjustment
  6. Reyes (3pts) - vdub Melky (3pts) - P2F Bautista (1pt) - LetTheBallFly, GD, johnhavok Colby "f***IN" Rasmus (2pts) - Spanky99, JG34 Juan (2pts) - Kawasaki (9pts) - Gose (8pts) - Goins (9pts) - Dylan Thole (9pts) - Bench (10pts) -o2cui2i
  7. Then your calculator sucks. saber loves the guy
  8. It's always key to pretty much ignore stat lines in the lower minors, for the most part until a kid gets to High A at least, they're still going to be judged on their tools. Nay has a good, not great hit tool and makes loud contact with excellent power potential and doesn't strikeout a ton(though does need to improve). Good strike zone awareness(of course needs to be refined) and could stick at 3b defensively. Projects as a solid everyday major leaguer with the chance to be all star calibre if his bat continues to develop. Here's a quick writeup from John Sickels in January of this year: 3) Mitch Nay, 3B, Grade B: Aggressive grade for rookie ball player but I believe in this bat. Good power potential, has some pure hitting skills, controls the zone reasonably and avoids strikeouts. Needs more defensive polish but bat can be special. Side note though, I'd still probably rank Barreto higher.
  9. Hank Aaron admitted to doing drugs, one of Willie Mays teammates said he used speed, Sandy Koufax used anything under the sun for his bad arm, which he admitted. Mickey Mantle used and got an infection in his arm because of it in 1961. Ty Cobb had literally no intergrity, sportsmanship or class whatsoever on the field, and even assaulted a heckler during a game. Guess we better kick them all out. Why, if you're so dead set against Bonds getting in are you not actively campaigning for all the admitted cheats and *******s from the past be kicked out using the same rule? I guess it's cool to hate Bonds without really thinking about why.
  10. I'm somewhat split on the whole Janssen thing. Dude is nailz with his results, but he's also having a season where he's a much more flyball/contact than he has been in the past, and part of me wonders if that's not a sign of his stuff maybe losing a bit of effectiveness from his injury, or just a small sample size aberration. It's not the worst idea in the world to trade a soon to be 33+ year old closer without dominating stuff who could turn into a pumpkin pretty easily, but the time to have done that would have been in the offseason, probably not right now when the Jays are in a wildcard spot. Thing is, not trading him now means you either have to QO him and risk paying him 15 million for next year, or hope he declines and get a pick. I doubt he declines given the crap that other guys have gone through recently with the whole QO business coupled with the fact that he's not your typical fireball/strikeout closer that teams look for and will be reluctant to part with a pick for him, in addition to the probably 7-9 million per year that his agent will be asking for. Chances are Casey is not re-signed and the Jays will get nothing in return.
  11. Jays are back in the 2nd wildcard as of the end of today. 3 games back of Baltimore for a least lead. When's the last time meaningful August games were being played, let alone September?
  12. Hehe, unlikely. The Yankees play Kawasaki like slow pitch teams play girls with 1 arm
  13. Interesting, but a bigger problem is still the 10 vote maximum....and brain dead writers that haven't covered the game in 20 years
  14. I surely wouldn't be picking Buerhle, he puts way too many balls in play and relies on defense and stranding runners, not exactly the recipe you want in a 1 game playoff. You want the guy with better swing and miss stuff IMO.
  15. Reyes (3pts) - Orgfiller, Gen.Disarray Melky (3pts) - o2cui2i, baseballsss Bautista (1pt) - jays4life19, LetTheBallFly Navarro (4pts) - GD Colby "f***IN" Rasmus (2pts) - Deadpool, Dylan, Spanky99 Kawasaki (9pts) - Tolleson (8pts) - Johnson (6pts) - Juan (2pts) - Gose (8pts) - johnhavok Goins (9pts) - Bench (10pts)
  16. It just doesn't make sense to take Stroman out of the rotation in a trade. If you get a pitcher back, you still have Happ throwing every 5th day, which is exactly what you're trying to stop by trading for an arm. Add to that the much smaller difference in gains from Stroman to pitcherX, when compared to the larger gains from Happ to pitcher X and it just makes zero sense.
  17. Please elaborate. You made the claim, present the "facts"
  18. Get that fastball on the inner half and up, papi can't touch it.
  19. Welcome to the show Sanchez. Get out there and face Pedroia, Ortiz and Napoli. Go get em kid!
  20. Gibbons has to put up the red light there... Yes it's retarded on gose's part to try and steal third, but Gibbons and the coaching staff should know by know Gose ain't that smart and needs to have the choice taken away in situations like that.
