  1. It's all good, I'm no pro by any stretch
  2. It's not the Jays picks that confuse me, it's that many Orioles hitters when you picked a Jays pitcher.
  3. I must admit, I don't understand alca.E and those picks.
  4. Heh, except for a 24 year old to be relevant his level would need to be AAA, not short season A ball. However, I agree that he needed to be moved up, obviously he wasn't being challenged in rookie ball and there's nothing wrong with moving a guy up, even if he really isn't anywhere on the prospect radar
  5. Completely disagree. I am exceptionally talented at hiding my erections.
  6. I've got Kluber Liriano (huge gamble - could put up 40, or -10 Martin Davis Dozier Sano Correa Altherr Bautista Rasmus
  7. A collection of recent posts from the Hangout: "That was a depressing inning." "And the slide continues towards the cliff." "Ballgame. This is fun." "Toronto will be in first the rest of the year. Wild Card or bust." "Take me down to Rogers Centre.Where the girls are pretty and the Orioles are s*****." "Givens is horrific. This team is dead. Blow it up!" "Man, went shopping with Os up 1-0. Come back and they're down 7-1. I think I'll go back to my regularly scheduled programming..." "The Jays are the superior team with the pitching and hitting." - this guy likely will be banned in the near future
  8. He would say it's a trick question because no internet exists outside of Orioles Hangout.
  9. The same could be said for any other prospect in the system.
  10. Valid points, but do you not give him a bit of a break for all of his injuries this year and still possessing an amazing array of baseball skills despite playing baseball far less than other prospects? Remember, he played college football which cut out alot of his development time in baseball.
  11. Yes. We won't know for sure what Atkins will really look like in IFA until year...assuming of course an international draft isn't in place by then.
  12. Quite simply, ignoring the iFA market as a source of talent is short sighted and stupid. Any baseball GM worth his or her salt should have a robust international scouting staff and be ready to participate in this area in a meaningful way. Anything less than that and they shouldn't be employed as a GM
  13. You've clearly never played Knifey/Spoony before
  14. I think this gets brought up more so because any time over past 10 years when the media has posed questions about payroll to the Jays they've always received a stadard answer of " blah blah blah, attendance needs to go up first blah blah blah" Now attendance is the best in the AL, so people want to see the money being reinvested. Of course, people with any education on the business side of baseball know that attendance increases have very little to do with significant revenue increases due to the nature of how baseball teams actually make the majority of their money now, but it's the excuse they've been peddling for a decade, and now they don't have it anymore.
  15. From the surgery date, probably anywhere from 2-3 weeks depending on if it ruptured or not first.
  16. Actually I think it's more like a "Beautiful Mind" scenario where he thinks hes working for the Padres, but he's actually still in the basement talking to a figmets of his imagination. When he posts here now, that's how we know he's back on his meds.
  17. Where a team is on the win curve has to taken into account with any trade, especially one of Jose's caliber. If the Jays were looking at a 70 win season, he'd be gone faster than a fart in the wind, along with edwin, saunders and every other pending FA. But when you're in a playoff spot with a better than decent shot at a 2nd straight division title, that's a completely differnet scenario about decisions like trading a marquee talent just because he's old and likely not being resigned for next season.
  18. Do you remember his name.. Jfas was it?
  19. How dare you question todd's opinion on the minor leaguers. He just put up a top 104 Jays prospect list with well thought out rationale for every spot. This board is lucky to have such knowledgeable posters. understand?
  20. Well... a world series did happen so it's hard to be that upset over it. If you're never willing to move quality for quality...you better have the perfect farm system. No team in baseball has that
  21. Its not unreasonable. Assuming 1 year linear progression would put him as a full time regular in 2019, with a possible callup in 2018, outside chance of 2017 as an extra pen arm in September.
  22. This is the most recent material I can find http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/scouting-chris-paddack-san-diegos-return-for-rodney/ "I think, given Paddack’s relatively short track record of success and the fact that he’s just a year removed from high school, there’s still a good bit of risk associated with his prospectdom, but he has mid-rotation stuff right now and that changeup might just continue to improve. Grades Fastball: 60/60 Changeup: 60/65 Curveball: 45/50 Control/Command: 45/50+ FV: 50"
  23. Yeah VMart is about the perfect comparable. Their situations are nearly identical
  24. I don't think he feels hurt.... just wants to get some of that cash it turns out he left on the hindsight table. That's how sports used to be, and still are to a decent degree. You play your best years for far less than your value because youre young, then get paid way more than your value when you're a free agent because now you're a proven veteran, but you still have a few really good years left before taking a headlong dive off the cliff. Problem is, Jose got to the party way later than the typical player and the cliff is far closer.
  25. Very likely yes, just stating there are no absolutes. There are many fans who would atually want Jose to be resigned at 5/150 too just because of the very same optics and fuzzy feelings that bat flip HR gave them, yet retaining him at that number would be completely stupid. Trading him now for anything less than a massive overpay would be equally as stupid.
