  1. That was actually quite a blitz on the NBA. Didn’t pay attention last couple days. Lakers are ridiculous at this point.
  2. Football they start negotiating the FA contracts before the season is over basically. You get $100m deals like 5m after FA officially opens
  3. I like Didi. I don’t know if it’s a big deal moving Bo off SS but that’d be a nice pickup without committing much. 2/25 or something is prob what it takes
  4. I wonder how many calls Hoyer has gotten since Theo left with other GMs just trolling him about when the fire sale starts
  5. Even the 30yo SP with 3 very reasonable years left on their deal aren’t safe. Burn the mofo down
  6. My post was kind of joking around but switching to serious, depends on the situation as far as how much he wants to play there. There are other considerations to consider other than stat nerd stuff (joking here too, I realize D at the corner in important). If he turns into the generational guy he was thought to be, do you risk putting him where he doesn’t want to be and then he walks first chance FA pops up?
  7. At this point I think Rizzo needs to be added to the package. Rowdy can go back their way. So Vlad will get his shot at 3b and if it doesn’t work, he’ll be DH for betterment of the team
  8. Bryant has been streaky during his career, so I don’t think it’s unreasonable not to put too much weight in a 30 game sample size compared to his total resume. Even in his really bad year he was at 125 wRC+ and so projecting 115 is pretty aggressive downward IMO. We’ll see
  9. Guess I already made that argument though. Apologies for that but Smith and Riley?
  10. You guys are plan nuts. What would be the motivation to move a star player from your big market team that’s still a contender for org guys. I mean, sometimes teams will see what others think is an org guy and think they can be a star but are Riley or Smith that? They aren’t the 76ers going to tank nation just to shred payroll. They have a brand they’re running and fans to answer to, at least to a certain extent. The optics would be really bad if they just blatantly dumped KB Off the cuff I’d expect the return to be something like Baty with the Mets. Top 100ish guy that they’re high on.
  11. Getting into more conspiracy theories but I’ve heard and wouldn’t be surprised that all those DR kids are taking crap from like 14. Obviously not all but when you talk about financial incentive, the stakes are huge for all involved (the kids and people trying to profit off them)
  12. It’s actually a legit question. I think it’ll have an effect. Maybe not “keep Bonds/Clemens out of the HOF” effect but it’ll cost votes IMO for sure
  13. Of course I’m sensationalizing a bit up there about RG, we had our own version of a worthless Cano in Tulo
  14. Also I like Nelson Cruz, my favorite player even prob but he doesn’t get a raw deal. He got popped at one point and there is no second chances with anyone’s else’s legacy in that regard. In baseball anyway
  15. One key thing Laila missed on his list was the fact that cheaters like in Nelson Cruz’s case, passed many many drug tests but were outed another way. This has been going on since Bonds’ time. Some things have gotten stricter from the testing infancy like HGH and some increased testing amounts I believe but at the core it’s always been a randomized piss test and cheaters have demonstrated an ability to beat it. So just because there’s an occasional pop it doesn’t make the above go away. It’s possible some athletes just get a bit careless or complacent As I said before though, I can respect the fact Cano wasn’t even trying to benefit financially. He wouldn’t be playing for a contract for a few years. It’s possible after his 37yp season where it looked like he was going to slip into total irrelevancy that he didn’t want to be “that guy”. The piece of trash player every fan hates since they suck and take up precious payroll. You know how much we’d all hate 37yo Cano if he was on our books? I’m pretty sure there’s a few people here that wouldn’t mind in Randall G got offed somehow and we got out of his deal

By Wonder Boy, are you referencing the video game character? Does he float on clouds?

My god I would not want my team to draft LaMelo Ball
  18. He’s got like 2/50 after next year, right?
  19. When Peyton basically got popped for HGH, which might be what Cano got popped for, it was swept under the rug
  20. I don’t know. I’d probably think less of him he merrily played out his contract sucking ass ala Chris Davis He definitely could’ve done that. He certainly wasn’t going to the HOF already Someone like Miggy or Pujols would have more to lose
  21. Perhaps I do try to drag you into debate too often. I’ll be mindful of that but if your smartest guy in the room schtick needs to be checked at times, I feel it’s my duty now that Boxy retired. At least on occasion. But less frequently. Point taken

Just saw they’re doing a play-in tournament to involve the 9th and 10th seeds. So in the East you’re talking about the 25-47 Wizards last year and the 23-42 Hornets. Yikes As a lifelong Bluejay fan forever but one that only watches when they’re in playoff contention, I know fans like me are the problem that make these horrible decisions possible
  23. That’s an awful comparison lol. In one case you’re taking about moving a guy you know is going to cost 10/300 at minimum and it’s understandable what they did. Cubs are in one of the largest markets in sports and they built back a winning brand. They just won the division and there’s another upstart team across the way now. They aren’t dumping YD’s salary. It’d take something significant (mlb close prob) for the fan base to chew on
  24. Trade your legit Ace on your huge market winning club for some B and C prospects. I can’t imagine why Hoyer wouldn’t be all over that, agreed
  25. Inaugural champ still up for grabs! I think I’ll draft better depth wise this year. Grabbed too many scorers last year being my first time at it
