  1. It's like, three bobbles in March. Probably best not to read too much into it right now. For all we know, two of those hit a pebble, or he's trying out a new glove model, or something.
  2. Nice bounce back for him. Freeman makes up two of those baserunners (hit and walk). Jays bats destroying Teheran.
  3. Big league pressure giving Travis the yips? As a guy without great tools, he needs to field the ones hit at him...
  4. That would be as a reliever? Correct me if I'm wrong but your system would just predict skill based on their past role.
  5. They're broadcasting all this CIS s*** the last few days. Funny that they'd neglect the Canadian junior team, featuring Tristan Pompey, Demi Orimoloye (2nd team all American by BA), and Josh Naylor (1st team all American by BA), vs the Blue Jays in the same weekend.
  6. FYI - Breaking Blue is making a comeback with different writers. Give it a read, tweet about it, etc. http://www.breakingblue.ca/2015/03/15/introducing-a-simple-and-accurate-pitching-projection-system-frias/

2012 - 8 defensemen get drafted before Filip Forsberg. 2010 - Gudbranson over Johansen was terrible. St Louis drafts Tarasenko and Schwartz after D-men like Brandon Gormley, Derek Forbort, and Dylan McIlroth get taken. 2008 - Schenn #5 and Bogosian #3 (but no great forwards were taken immediately after) 2007 - Hickey #4, Alzner #5.... Voracek #7. Couture #9. 2006 - Erik Johnson #1..... Toews #3. Backstrom #4. Kessel #5. 2005 - Jack Johnson #3..... Carey Price #5..... Brian Lee #9 - Kopitar #11. 2004 - Cam Barker #3 right before Ladd and Wheeler (holy f*** Wheeler is old!). Obviously these are cherry picked examples and proof of NOTHING. But I think that if you did a proper analysis you'd find out that D-men get overdrafted vs. future value.

the key word there is the if they rarely do, and even when it happens it often takes years with Dmen. The amount of highly drafted Dmen that bust for their original drafting team is alarmingly high (I don't have any studies, just my feeling).
  9. lol, well maybe that's actually wha Bo said (it's in a quote).

Yeah, maybe if they end up with #5, flip it to Edmonton for like Yak + #22 (or whatever, I don't know). Or, maybe #5 and Reilly for Eichel!

I would LOL if this season ended up in Toronto drafting a defenseman.

These are all second-tier elite guys though? TSN recently had Hanifin down at #8 and comped him to Bouwmeester.

Laffs should finish 27th at this rate. 9.50% odds at McDavid, lol. Are there elite players available at #4?
  14. Definitely happening if Yahoo ever stops being stupid or if we move to Fx
  15. Bo Schultz is my one projection buster this year. He just 'looks' like he'd be a really good reliever. This is a guy that didn't even really play baseball until his junior year in College. He played beer league softball and studied journalism. Walked onto the baseball team and had a 9.00 ERA but enough velocity to sign undrafted with Oakland. They tried to Ziegler him and make him a sidearm reliever for a few years. Then Arizona picked him up four years later and eventually made him a starting pitcher, overhand. I don't think he's ever really been a full time, overhand throwing relief pitcher. Of course, you probably know all of this already. Great article on him: https://sports.vice.com/article/bo-schultzs-long-road-from-williamsburg-bar-softball-to-the-american-league-east
  16. At first thought, I'm not a huge fan of the rolling schedule. I like playing everybody once, every season. It's good in the current format that everyone gets a "Bye Week"... And most of the imbalance from the current format simply comes from divisional quality. FTD has the toughest sched but he's in the best division.
  17. The new division would have been: jaysblue (4), TCA (7), spanky (13), and kingkat (19). Pulling two strong teams from stronger divisions, and the worst team out of the weakest division. It would have avoided breaking up any major existing rivalries but brings BFFs spanky and jaysblue together. The only major existing rivalries IMO are BTS-SVG, FTD-MIN, and maybe me-North, but not as much. Could have called it the French Dip Division, The Dagwood, The Egg Salad, The Po' Boy...
  18. Yahoo is so weak. I might have unilaterally pushed the 5 division restructure through too, because I think it makes sense.
  19. Is it possible to even do five divisions in Yahoo? I would not be opposed at all to a five division format. Winners get in + three wild cards. The shuffle could help us even out the divisions too.
  20. Still pretty gross staff. Since Stroman is hurt you've got a rookie and a swingman pencilled in and no Ace. Bullpen might be fine because it's a pen but it's still s*** at the wall. Meh. The Blue Jays will be an offense first team again.
  21. Yeah just trying to get the spread within each division reasonably close. It would be a pain in the ads to try to get the whole league between 7 and 13 (impossible).
  22. meh, f*** it. It's good enough. ps. Dinger's 200 win season gets an asterisk due to the garbage division that he got to match up against last year.
  23. Sharpen a pencil and see if you can find anything that works without screwing up the spread on another division. I'm stumped.
