So giving up arguably the best catching prospect(especially when our current one is a bumbling, stumbling idiot) and a pitcher with #1-3 type projections for an aging trick pony who has pitched in the NL only, was looked upon as a good trade at the time? By whom? I sincerely did not like the trade when it happened, especially feeling the team already made the necessary moves in the Miami trade. This trade was obviously conducted in an over zealous fashion by AA,almost like a kid in a candy store with $100 burning a hole in his pocket. AA clearly lost sight of things and underestimated the risks involved when trading for a NL pitcher to pitch in the AL East, let alone a 38 year old one. There is nothing wrong in trading for a NL pitcher, but not for your top two prospects for a 38 year old, decent contract or not. The committing factor IMO was that Dickey is a knuckleballer, thus negating the age factor. Stupid, and AA will pay (hopefully). It just felt like AA tipped the scales way too much by emptying the farm in the two trades. The Miami trade was enough for me,the Mets trade created a huge imbalance in the organization and not worth the risk IMO.
