He'll be playing shortstop for the Bisons for a very long time or traded if his defence doesn't improve. As of now, his defence will block him from sticking in the show. Good thing is that he's only 20 years old and has plenty of time to improve his defence, although his bat is playing well above his age.

You're aware a base hit scores two runs right? You are aware that Travis has the third best batting average in the league since the All Star Break, right? He's been hitting the ball hard consistently and there are many things that can go wrong with bunting, trying to score one run vs two to boot.

Two men in scoring position with two out and a solid hitter at the plate in Travis. Bunting there is absolutely stupid.

No excuse for not scoring there, especially with two out. It looked like he slipped rounding third, but he lost his chance by not running hard from contact. It looked like he let up a bit nearing second base, not realizing the ball got under Springer's glove.

It won't solve everything, but i'll bet that if Montero was called up tomorrow to replace Smoak, he would definitely contribute well offensively for at a few weeks until the league adjusts. It may be good for a few wins over that stretch. In the meantime, let Smoak go down and start hitting the ball hard again. Even against lesser pitching, it will do wonders for him feeling that again.

Lol.. There are tons of examples. I'm not saying he'll turn out to be an every day player in the MLB, but a possible DH platoon is very possible in the near future.
