    If no trade is made for an every day LF, Pompey will be given a fair chance. It's time to finally figure out what Pompey actually is.

    Reese McGuire will have a great spring and create some head scratching. He projects to be a backup catcher regardless, so f*** giving him playing time in the minors next year. He's the best backup we have as of right now.

    True.. The fact that we're trying to figure out how to obtain an outfielder by giving up something useful is insane when there is a one year(possibly two) stop gap in Bautista available and we give up nothing. Jose will be fine if his playing time is split three ways between RF / 1B /DH. f*** the draft pick when we have two others and are in a position to win. Shapiro is being a little to cute and this could backfire horribly.

    Estrada is the SP that should be involved in a trade, especially before ST begins. Problem is that most GMs would probably be skeptical because of his back issues. I'd still dangle him out there just to feel the waters.

    Residing does make a bit of a difference to a ball player, but not that much. Having said that, you have to think EE will take some time getting used to the massive drop off. Combine the fact that he settled for a lesser deal, the sour taste will linger for half a season. There's a good possibility EE struggles badly out of the gate.

    Can't get more athletic and left handed by signing EE after signing Morales. Shapiro set guidelines and is sticking to them. Maintaining discipline and to a plan is how you develop a well rounded team, but not overnight. I like what Shapiro is doing here.

    Why? For not offering an aging player with an obvious physical decline a multi year deal? I think Shapiro is right for not offering more than one year. As far as loyalty goes, i can see Shapiro upping the price to 1/20 if all else fails elsewhere.

    Inciarte is a plus defender in CF, not that far off from Pillar.

    It's the OBP skill set combined with a low K rate that we need injected into this line up, combined with speed and SB skills. He profiles better than Pillar does offensively while not losing hardly anything defensively. Be a LHB also helps in balancing the line up.

    I meant prove to stay healthy. The Braves actually gain a bit defensively with Pillar and he is controllable. It's the prospect going back that would make the deal. You're right that the Braves are probably not interested in trading Inciarte, but if the prospect is a SRF, then they would definitely consider it. I wouldn't part with SRF though, but it would take that sort of caliber type. J.Harris?

    The man made of glass still has a lot to prove. Besides, he can be just as lethal hitting sixth or seventh if he can stay healthy.

    I'd hardly call replacing Pillar with Inciarte a lateral move.

    Inciarte would replace Pillar in CF and play every day, but you're right that we still need another outfielder. At least the lead off position would be locked up for the next 3-4 years.

    I agree, but the defensive lay out would be a train wreck. I'd have no problem with signing Bautista to a one year deal though. I'd would be asking the Braves about OF Ender Inciarte. I'd offer Pillar and a decent prospect and see what happens. He would address our lead off situation, has a few years of control left and if a left handed bat. You also don't lose much defence also with him in CF. We'd get a .290/.350 /.400 type hitter with 20 SB. A definite upgrade over Pillar. The Braves may bite if the prospect is to their liking (Pentecost,Zeuch?)

    Actually, the 2015 sample in high leverage situations is extremely small. In the larger sample in 2014, he had a 115 wRC+ in high leverage and a 130 in medium leverage. I'm just saying he's had good numbers in high - medium leverage situations in two of the last three years. I think he'd welcome a return to the AL, especially in the East. The RC would play beautifully, opposed to hitting in St.Louis and Oakland.

    That would be last resort. The beauty of it is that Shatkins can be patient looking for a better alternative because Bautista will still be available in February.

    Shatkins may have no choice but to pull the trigger on a trade for a controllable or reasonably priced outfielder. Easier said than done, but I believe Shapiro has something up his sleeve.

    You'll literally need to smash Morales' knees with a bat and end his career in order for Bautista to fit. Bautista as the regular first baseman is a possibility, but that would mean Pearce would be an outfield regular. The line up diversity was already crippled with the Morales signing.

    I think he also had a wRC+ in the 140 range in high leverage situations.
