I just rewatched the interview with Ross a few days back to hear exactly what he said...
Seems like Springer’s discomfort was mild so they thought nothing of it, however the discomfort continued a for a few days so they finally decided to do an MRI which revealed a “grade 2 oblique sprain”. They seemed to be surprised about the MRI results because Springer was pretty much playing through it already. So they’re resting him for “4-5 days” to see how it heals and if he’ll be able to play through it.
Ross said Springer is extremely motivated to play opening day and that unless the front office specifically steps in and says no, he’ll likely be playing.
So yeah sounds like he’s gonna play the first few games and then likely hit the DL for a month or two once he aggravates it
