    That’s what I thought at first, but now im like 90% certain that Turner will start 0 games at 3rd. I think he’s gonna be used strictly as a 1B/DH like Belt was. IKF will sadly be the primary 3B with Biggio as backup.

    Or… they mis-timed the market once again. They overpaid early for mediocre players and tied up so much payroll that we had no room left for Chapman at 20 mil.

    Honestly glad he rejected that. Over 5 years for Chap was too much. It hurts that we probably could’ve had him for 3/60. But who knows, maybe its Boras/Chapman’s pride and they tried coming back to Toronto asking for the same initial offer. Missing out on both Chapman and Bellinger for 3 year deals is rough.

    Pretty funny that the 2 WS teams didn’t even get to the Semis here. Also that 2021 team being in the finals is depressing. Could’ve been a reality…

    Agree 100%. I’d rather just watch the rookies play if the alternative is aging/low upside vets like KK/Turner/IKF.

    And it happened again in 2022…. Then last year they were too slow to react to the lack of offense (the numbers will turn around surely!) and it looks like they will make the same mistake in 2024. I really hope im wrong and the offense rebounds, but they haven’t hedged their bets at all.

    Ummmm nope. Its good, but very top-heavy. The last few guys at the bottom will be ass, and they’re still very injury-prone.

    It’s possible. If Jays offered him like 3/60 or 3/65 he probably comes back though. But they would’ve had to wait him out. Anyways im just angry we tied up 17.5 million in IKF and KK when it was completely unnecessary and it cost us better FAs later.

    Because we already signed 4 other guys (Green/IKF/KK/Turner) totalling about 40 million, not wanting to meet Chapmans's price or wait on him. A mistake.

    Just a terrible offseason given the failures the last 2 postseasons and the stakes right now. This might be the final year before we have to decide to move on from Bo/Vlad. And this is the best roster they could muster.

    Bassitt getting more money than Chapman and at an older age too is kinda hilarious

    I was always 100% set on the idea that Chapman was gone after 2023 because he would command about 25 mil a year into his late 30s. A 3 year deal for 18 mil a year is a f***ing steal. I have a feeling the team will really miss his presence this year. Maybe the FO thinks his swing is broken… idk.

    This this this. Its not just IKF vs Chapman, its the KK signing that puts it over the top for me when we had a massive hole at 3B and CF was already filled.

    The IKF signing is ok in a vacuum, but overpaying for both of IKF and KK (when we already have a defense-first CF) is f***ing dumb.

    Yeah but… we could’ve easily had Chapman back on that contract if we don’t sign KK + IKF. Let Varsho play CF, use some kinda Schneider/Horwitz/Barger/Espinal/Biggio platoon for LF/2B and we’re a much better team. Annoying s*** being a fan of this team sometimes

    Front office should be embarrassed Unless IKF somehow out-WARs Chapman which is extremely unlikely.
