Yep, biggest hurdle would be a stadium. I do think they could support a baseball team. But for sure the other major sports there are… not doing well. Grizzlies obv, and the Whitecaps FC attendance is pretty bad.
I wasn’t old enough to ever watch the Expos, but as a Jays fan I think it would be great to have a 2nd Canadian team.
I feel like Vancouver would be a better spot though. Huge asian community, and the Single A team there draws very well from what I hear.
Yeah definitely seems that the Jays don’t like the idea of opt-outs and uncertainty. Its why they’ll sign guys like IKF to 2 year deals and trade for guys with guaranteed control. Or pay higher for a 1 year deal (Turner, Belt, Semien, etc.)
Its just an excuse to make himself feel better. He can’t come to grips with the reality that he f***ed up his walk year with an abysmal 4 months to end the season. So he blames it on something out of his control.
We’ll see if the park suppresses homeruns as much in 2024, because what he’s saying does have some truth to it. Hard to tell if its a statistical anomaly or not.
Yeah oof. I feel like those projections on Candelario and Gurriel are light and I guess those front offices agree.
We’ll see how those contracts turn out but yeah they could both be bad.
I'm willing to see it it both ways.
It could be that he misread the market. Could be that Chapman never wanted to come back. Could even be that they actually like IKF better.
The truth is that we don't know. You were being pretty rude to several posters claiming that money wouldn't be an issue. You're acting as if you work in the front office and you KNOW all these things when you're just guessing like the rest of us.
What we DO know, because its 100% factual is that Chapman signed for way less than anyone expected. Some people are rightfully pissed off at the fact we couldn't beat that offer.
Yeah, like people keep saying “oh the orioles will be better this year because their players have another year of experience”
We were saying that with Vlad/Bo a couple years ago and it didn’t turn out that way. Seems like the team has been getting worse each year, not better.
Still have no idea if we should expect 2 WAR or 5 WAR from Vladdy.
Not sure why everyone here seems to think Springer is finished. That Varsho and Kirk won’t hit again like they did in the past. That the rotation will suddenly fall apart this year.
