If he doesn't improve at all, that's a really, really nice floor (injuries aside). Real baseball for a second: 8.5 WAR through someone's age 20 season is pretty much mythical.

I know Trout's craziness kind of blunts anything else that the other young guys do but Harper was a 37% above league average hitter as a 20 year old last season (without any obvious luck red flags). That's pretty nuts.

Did you hear that? You would only have control of Mike Trout for 4 years. That's basically nothing.

OF vs CF replacement level in fantasy is almost a wash. It's not like real baseball. Stanton is 3 years younger and projects to give you about 10-20 additional points of wOBA. If it's a garbage 5 category league with SBs being skewed heavily then there's a case for McCutchen but that's really the only way a rational argument can be made. Trout > Stanton > Harper > McCutchen And yah, Miggy is definitely in there somewhere too.

Stanton and Harper should be taken over McCutchen in any keeper fantasy league. Pretty easily too.

Where on earth are you getting that? The Angels did not lead the MLB, American League or their division in WAR in 2013. Let alone by 8. That has not proven to be true in the past.

I would take Correa over just about any prospect in the game other than maybe Buxton or Bogaerts.

We need to be careful with what our intuitions truly tell us though. Before work on aging curves were done, most assumed a players peak was from Age 28-32. That's almost certainly false.

The concern you have is understandable but your proposed method amplifies survivor bias even further (already a problem with the delta method). It also would reduce your sample significantly.

Jesus. Nobody is saying that trading prospects can't be a good idea. It often is. It's the trading of prospects for what we got that rustled so many jimmies. The franchise soaked a giant loss there. Throwing in a 3 win shortstop making $5M a year just because didn't exactly help things either. -
