    I'd buy it if Trout was like, say, Bellinger, who kinda came out of nowhere to be a top 5 player. However, out the gate Trout was putting up monster numbers and he never stopped. I'm not really sure what Callis means, but if he's referring to hype, wrong (Harper) and if he's actually referring to best offensive talent drafted, wrong (Trout, among others)

    That twitter thread was cancer. You got your BA defenders, and then some guy asks "who was the best talent to come out of the draft prior to Tork?" and some guy answers Pat Burrell lol. Callis didn't say anything about hype. He flat out said "best all around offensive talent to come out of the draft in 20 years." The fact that BA missed on Trout, Bellinger, Betts, Yelich in this way is irrelevant. Each is a far better offensive talent to come out of the draft in the last twenty years. The false sense of bravado these scouty types have really rustles my jimmies.

    Yeah that is a ridiculous statement. The likelihood of him being superior to a Bellinger, Betts, Machado, Harper, Yelich or how about Mike f***ing Trout is slim to none. What does "all around offensive talent to come out of the draft" mean? That he's recognized that way? Obviously Mike Trout is the best all around offensive player to come out of the draft in the last 20 years. What a stupid statement.

    Yeah, let's listen to a sub replacement level player making millions, complaining about the systemic systems of institutional structures. Still baffles me that people s*** all over meritocracy, you know, the driving force in every sport.

    There's a pretty simple reason for the disparity. Baseball is super expensive. Median income for black households is much lower than that of whites or Asians. Black kids also tend to gravitate more towards basketball and football where they are grossly over represented. If anyone is trying to apply some kind of racist insinuation, it isn't there.
