  1. Maybe Buntoyo was hired as a baseline for what effect the worst manager in baseball has on your team as a big experiment before they conclude Gibby >> all and bring his rambly, barely able to speak English ass back to this team.
  2. Bass is probably pretty good. Not Giles level but he's definitely not a dumpster fire and will probably be ok at closer. Romano is the wild card here. What we need to do is bring up big Murph and Joey Murray.
  3. Yeah he won't be able ta pitch to da score
  4. Too bad he isn't facing Scherzer while we're on that train of thought. He's a s***** hitter.
  5. I like the Hatch/Kay piggyback as 5th starter.
  6. You're wrong, there are restrictions. They can't trade jerseys or shake hands after the game where they just finished dog piling one another for 60 minutes
  7. I'm actually surprised. I'd have thought the extra WAR they get for being Blue Jays would've bought them more rope.
  8. I did keep it to baseball, you goddamn tyrant Wish I saw what Ohtani's personal fluffer said to get him banned.
  9. I'm guessing for balance reasons, I don't know, but I agree. If you're going to play a team this season, do the games all at once without regard for home/away stadiums. We should have played 10 in a row against Tampa, then against Baltimore, then against NYY, etc.
  10. I hate everything. I'd have rather had no baseball than this cocktease. I guess the worry about where the Jays play is completely irrelevant now. What happens with the NFL, now? High contact sport where bodily fluids are flying through the air, many more people on the field/clubhouse and many, many more players who are at higher risk due to obesity.
  11. I would say that I'd be surprised if the virus was being transmitted on the field. There's very little player to player contact and when there is, there is rarely situations where guys are breathing or spitting on one another. I think visiting teams have a lot less to worry about as I'd almost guarantee 99% of transmissions come in team clubhouses/airplanes. I would be surprised if a large number of Phillies acquired the virus directly from a Marlins player. I also don't really think the "sharing the clubhouse" thing is a concern. With proper sanitizing, that really shouldn't be an issue at all. I'm trying to assess the actual risk factors. Obviously playing in a current hotspot like Florida, Texas, Arizona or California seemed to be a bad idea and I really think they should avoid playing in those states until the virus is under control.
  12. I agree in principle, but I refer you to my last post regarding its effects on human behaviour.
  13. My experience with masks, and idk if other people have noticed/feel this way, is that many, many people think masks give them much more protection than they actually do. The problem occurs when this causes people to seem to care less about maintaining social distancing and whatnot. People are just generally less careful. In Region of Waterloo, for example, where I live, mandatory face covering while inside a public place came into effect July 13th. Since then, I have definitely noticed people being less cautious. I recognize this is anecdotal, but I feel like masks are being oversold, with slogans like "save lives, wear a mask." I feel like that is dangerous wording because that's not what masks are capable of. Bringing it back to baseball, this could also drop the guard of the players like it does with regular people. That's my worry.
  14. Masks are not the panacea everyone seems to think they are. The positive effect is minimal at best. Point being, masks are not going to get in the way of an outbreak.
  15. Damn, people are losing their s***. Cancel the season!
  16. Yeah I'm gonna go ahead and guess that the FO isn't in favour of their best pitchers pitching while clearly injured, and that they'd prefer their dumb ass manager notice within 15 minutes of showing discomfort.
  17. Charles is about as smart as he is handsome.
  18. Man, we played 3 tough games in the Trop that were competitive all the way through and should have probably won all three. Sucks in a short season that this will be magnified but there were a lot of positive signs this series.
  19. God, the catharsis. It is intoxicating
  20. We could be down a pitcher otherwise
