  1. Grandy sounds like a goddamn rocket scientist next to your average baseball player.
  2. Does this mean you were wrong for poo pooing BTS's thread about Granderson clearing waivers, you f***ing dolt?
  3. That's racist
  4. I mean...isn't it obvious?
  5. And subsequently missed the whole season. Good choice, Josh!
  6. Bingo. Will miss him for what he did for this city but his departure is leaving a sour taste
  7. The idea is that we don't want to be pigeon holed into making the show just for the board. It's hard but I even feel like we are going to inside jokes too often. You guys will get them but if we want to expand we can't be board specific. That's why we made the decision to introduce ourselves using our real names.
  8. Don't spell my name wrong ever again. Or else.
  9. Diaz is a pretty nice safety net. He's just good enough to start while still being an acceptable utility player. With Bo, LGJ, Smith and Groshans in the pipe, we have flexibility to let one of them step up and if they don't, Diaz is perfectly adequate.
  10. What? That doesn't make any sense
  11. I don't laugh at reasonable opinions. I laugh at half baked theories based on no evidence. Say, Kevin Pillar becoming a perennial all star based on one ST game. I'd never say anything crazy like that and then double down on every opportunity.
  12. Ok, I accept that possibility. Doesn't mean you're right and especially given your track record, there's no reason to laugh at a different opinion.
  13. If he was an Oriole, Zook would probably get slapped with a 55 FV.
  14. You might be right, but there's been a few times we thought a guy would sign a 1 year deal for those reasons but still got a multi-year one. I think the beltre deal is a little different as he wasn't quite the impact player Donaldson was prior to his time in Boston.
  15. I don't think people are really appreciating how little value there is in a 40-50 pick; you're getting an org guy 90+% of the time. Yeah, the return for Donaldson might not be great but the odds that we'll get something worse than that comp pick are so remote. Like, what if JD plays the rest of the season and lands us T-Mac? Certainly in the realm of possibility given the known stipulations of the PTBNL around Donaldson's health. Half a season of Chapman got Torres, so I don't think we should necessarily give up hope that we get something good if Donaldson plays the rest of the season.
  16. Also the risk that JD would accept the QO if they think his calves have turned him into Tulo Jr.
  17. Having the information I have, yes. I don't know what information the FO has. I discussed this on the podcast, and I think we all agreed that QO is obviously the way to go assuming we know everything about the situation. We do not, however. I also think people are massively overrating the usefulness of a comp pick. They rarely turn into a useful player.
  18. What are you laughing at?
  19. Donaldson has a pretty recent history of being a top 5 player in the game. A team could look at a contract like that as a pretty worthy gamble. I don't think he'll sign a 1 year deal.
  20. I'm gonna guess 3/75 and he doesn't sign until near ST.
  21. So, the same people complaining that this FO is too risk averse are apparently simultaneously accusing them of being impatient and reckless with Donaldson. Jesus Christ.
  22. How can you even quantify the return based on that, and who gets to decide? Is there precedent for this? Pretty bizarre imo. It think the PTBNL will be some org guy because Shatkins are just giving our team away to their buddies in Cleveland.
  23. Sorry, Shakins have been secret agents the entire time. This was their big mission from the start.
  24. That really is the level of discourse occurring at orioleshangout.com. They probably weren't too worried about his potential since they have literally 15 players that project to be league average in their farm.
  25. I dunno, seems to me like the conflict is on Donaldson. The Jays have put a lot of work into the high performance dept. and seems like JD thinks he knows more than they do. He can drink his wheatgrass smoothies or whatever, but seems like his calves are f***ed and he's conveniently blaming the Jays. I'll miss the good times but the future is pretty bright.
