  1. Yup. f*** NESN. Bunch of obnoxious homers. Lol technically he didn't even say anything
  2. That's it???? No way, I'd take 3/60M or maybe 4/80M I would take in a heart beat.
  3. Since we're discussing Dickey I have a question. Let's say we make the postseason with our current rotation intact, who do we bump out of the rotation? stats would most likely point to Dickey but I have to ask... What would his use be out of the pen? I think bringing out a knuckleballer is worse than bringing a guy like Shultz in, unless maybe he's coming on to relieve for Sanchez for that knuckleball effect or whatever. The only other use I can think of is him coming in extras or a blowout to eat innings.
  4. Man I skipped an exam review session to watch this game at home, man I will never forget that game. I lost my voice when Bautista hit the homer, I never felt anything like this before as a sports fan. Like this had so much of an effect on me that I stop considering myself a fan of a European Soccer team (Chelsea FC) because despite watching them on and off for about 8 years, and despite how many titles i see them win, I never felt a moment that came near the Bautista homer. And the Jays didn't even win anything. I had the same enjoyment the Greeks in Danforth had when they advanced to the next round of the World Cup lol
  5. If you give Dickey a QO, you best believe he's taking it lol. He's making less than QO this year no? There's no reason why anyone would pay him more than what we're paying for him this year, and QO is like 15 mil lol
  6. Players are not exempt from tampering rules according to Blair. I haven't double checked the rulebook tbh but if that's the case then he should be hit with something.
  7. I would be ok with him saying whatever, but for me what ticked me off is when the Boston media approached him. That can't happen. I don't want our player to be distracted, I don't want a Farrell 2.0. If this distraction was a result of Ortiz talking too much, then the league should take care of this. I agree that this has 0 effect on him choosing Boston or Toronto or whatever, but it's the distraction from a rival in the midst of a title race is what ticks me off.
  8. Blair was thinking on the lines of them losing a draft pick or getting fined
  9. Good. Ortiz is taking way too much. That question he answered at the beginning is fine, you suggest someone it's cool it's his opinion. But that s*** at the all-star game, Ortiz repetidly talking up EE, even the NESN media interviewed EE about going to Boston. This is bush league, when was the last time you heard a media outlet approach a player about replacing a superstar, even about going to the specific organization the media outlet represents.... Before his contract runs out????? This has been beyond weird.
  10. I don't wanna hurl this early in the day!!
  11. What?????? You watch baseball for fun and you legit watch lots of Jays games???!!!?! As for me I completely agree with you. Dickey, as much as he's hated, has been great for his price and a lock for 200+ IP of 4-4.5 ERA ball, so basically your permenant 4/5 pitcher. I think he'd be a cheap option to have and his arm isn't going to stop for at least 3 more years. But my opinion stays the same when we first got him: knuckleballers suck and they're boring to watch. The fact that we have Thole taking up space is even worse. A guy like Ubaldo, as s*** as he is, is more interesting to watch because of his explosiveness and movement. A knuckleballer is just really boring to watch
  12. I'm just throwing out names. From what I heard from Atkins and Shapiro is that they're indicating the budget isn't the issue but the assets to trade is. Now we also know that the FO also doesn't really want big contracts to aging players hence Edwin and Bautista; although you might also make the case that they didn't want to make any big commitments on the roster until they get their feet settled. Obviously $25M/7 years for Votto is a lot but there's a lot to take into account. Are Bautista and EE coming back next year? Because that alone is salary relief. Also while I see Tulo here for a while because getting a good defensive shortstop with pop is hard to find, if Martin puts up half decent numbers and we make the post season I am 100% convinced Martin will be shopped and traded as a veteran catcher that helps take teams to post seasons yada yada, so that's another point of salary relief. So committing that much (not necessarily on Votto) could still be a big possibility given how much money the team is bringing in (and yes I understand a significant portion of that will go to revamping the tin can with the retractable roof). I think if the team is sure those 2 aren't coming back and the price to get him is cheap and they make Cincy eat about 25% of the contact we might get a guy like him. Just throwing it out there for discussion
  13. How much would Votto cost? I think our trade targets have to be receiving players owed lots of money where we take on most of the contract (salary dump type of trade) to provide salary relief for a team looking to rebuild or retool, given our lack of prospects that we have to trade. That's why I think someone like Upton could be a possible option too, 8 under .500 I think in the NL West they might as well tank a bit and retool for next season
  14. Oh no MLB ⚾ (@mlb) • Instagram photo INSTAGRAM.COM 47K likes, 189 comments - mlb on July 12, 2016: "iPad in the dugout? JBJ, Edwin and @mookiebetts throw up the ✌️. #ASG @mlb_players".
  15. It was Boston reporters no less lol
  16. It's more than just "a song". There's significance to this. If someone on the street did this I wouldn't give 2 shits, but to do this on national television, in a sport where we're trying to make a mark as a country, to have something botched like that is embarrassing. Also I don't like the idea of people trying to push agendas at the expense of other people. especially political ones, and especially at sporting events. I don't give 2 shits about your movement.
  17. The events are for us kids not you old farts!!!! . But seriously I enjoy all events including the celebrities game, it's nice to see a break from the seriousness half way, it's a good mental break, it's a long season man
  18. I don't get it lol. I got that alcohol spray thing if that's what you're talking about
  19. This guy should not be allowed to cross back. Or if he does he should have customs do some extra searching on him.... That or the other 3 should have a go at him. This should be delt with, I don't need agendas pushed during a f***ing national anthem. Especially one that's broadcasted so largely. I feel bad for Saunders
  20. Yes what the actual f***. I'd rather have them skip our anthem than it to be botched -- let alone purposely to help a political cause, but by a Canadian group too??? What the actual f***. He should be publicly shamed tbh that was embarrassing. If an American f***s up their anthem you know they're getting shot. I had a haircut so I came back and caught on the 3rd so I missed everything
  21. Apperently a Canadian group botched the National Anthem???? To inject a political statement??? Are you f***ing kidding me?
  22. He's making reference to the 102 year old Jays fan that ran the bases before the all star break at the Rogers Center lol
