  1. Wasn't Robert Stock touching mid 90's as a 14/15 year old?
  2. Players with legendary defensive skills playing out of position isn't non-existent. Tris Speaker and Andruw Jones were known to play out of position all the time. So its not out of the realm for players to play out of position. Mark Belanger would take odd routes to grounders so he could make the play without diving because he felt diving was less efficient at making the play. And as for fielders positioning now with advanced metrics and where they're to play. The hit charts are showing the areas where the fielders should play. And with hitters becoming more and more susceptible to the K, you just know being a spray hitter is a dying art and more and more pull shifts will become evident to viewers/fans. But just because a manager instructs a player to specifically play in a particular spot, sometimes the player plays where he feels comfortable playing it. And just think with HC's like Dwayne Murphy & Cito, loved by all on here, the hitter would continue hitting into the shift no matter how many players were on the pull side of the field. All I'm getting at is for people to stop using stats when they matter for their little argument and then when a situation occurs that goes against the stats they use, they reference something else......its f***ing lame.
  3. My apologies for quoting the other board: To:Frag 2/2/13 88661.66 Reply to 88661.57 georgia_peach georgia_peach Posts:6901 The problem with Alomar is, he's like Jim Edmonds and the frequency of their involvement in highlight-reel plays. Many remember those two as defensive gods. But really, if someone is making highlight-reel plays all the time, is it something to be proud of? To me all those plays look great vsually, but with all the defensive scouting reports available and the defensive player's memory of what particular hitters tendencies are to me says that Edmonds and Alomar weren't in a good position to begin with. Who knows, maybe Alomar was a showboat, played out of position on purpose creating those "special" plays we all remember. Heck look at Cal Ripken's FG FLD numbers.....off the charts. Ripken rarely made flashy plays, but was uncannily in the right place on most plays. I remember hearing this multiple times on TV broadcasts about Ripken working tirelessly in practice on positioning.
  4. You're thinking of jaybooster
  5. Goins. Another aspect that rubs me the wrong way is. Bonifacio being a cocky.....crappy player. Him and Rajai are pretty much cut from the same cloth. I pretty much suck at baseball, but when my speed and athleticism allows me to do something flashy.....everyone at the park is gonna know about it.
  6. You have both players....both offensively inept. Then you have their defence and: I'll take the player I watched make routine and spectacular plays and felt confident in his defence over the player I watched who made me cringe making routine plays and lucked his way into a couple of spectacular plays.
  7. I'm tired of hearing about projections systems, or made up projection systems and them being the final answer to everything. They're all tools....they're not the answer. Every system spits out different results.....they're not perfect, just guidelines and projections. There's certain players who go against particular stats, but then there's other stats to explain why there's FIP & XFIP busters.......why particular players have crazy high or low BABIP. It was hilarious when Roberto Alomar's defensive numbers on FG were found to be s*** and posters denounced the numbers because they knew Alomar was great. But then the same posters will still use the same numbers to define other players defensive abilities. Either the numbers are good, or they aren't, picking and choosing numbers for particular players or using a different projection system to suit arguments, its all lame.
  8. The difference in what both (Boni & Goins) would provide is beyond negligible.
  9. His lack of fundamentals playing any position for me = below average. As for Jeter, he's an intelligent fielder. Skills were way overblown due to the NY hype machine + his solid offensive contributions over lengthy period of time + his fancy, unnecessary jump throws.
  10. Bonifacio is pretty much Rajai Davis in the field. They both f***ing suck at baseball....fielding for this discussion. But their speed makes up for their complete lack of fundamentals. I want guys who don't have to improvise using their speed to not actually be f***ing horrible thanks. OMG, did you see Rajai scale the wall and bring that HR ball back....never been done. That makes up for the dozens of other routine balls he made me sweat on.......don't f***ing think so.
  11. I'm waiting for the newest Breaking Blue article to be penned on how beneficial it would be for the Jays to bring Bonifacio back. The man is a future f***ing HOF'er.
  12. So you were trumpeting his defence last year when it was/wasn't happening?
  13. The numbers have spoken, lets bring him back.
  14. Or if Alex gets asked about the change in direction last year failing to meet expectations and he takes his dress shirt off and is sporting an "I'm with stupid --------->" shirt.
  15. I'd rather we have a team built for the long haul and making the playoffs. I'm not for moves built for the extreme short term to whet the fans appetites. Because as quick as that window was open & closed and the fans jumped on board, they're jumping off just as quick when times are lean.
  16. Typical unreasonable expectation.
  17. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/10354114/harris-poll-nfl-most-popular-mlb-2nd The slant being its Americans who were polled.
  18. If the same regime is around when the farm rebounds, you'll see the same stupid trades, knocking the farm down a bunch for some over the hill expensive players. It's Beeston's MO that he jacks off to every night. The Jays FO and fans like to think they're a major player in MLB, but they're a timid on the cusp mid/big player. A recipe for failure.
  19. The NHL is less relevant in NA than MLB and its not close.
  20. There's bigger markets MLB could go to if the smaller market teams can't survive.
  21. Um, the NFL's had more of America's attention for 30+ years now.
  22. Take biggest contract and have a residence on the West Coast. Win-win.
