  1. I would've thought the BP coach would be the least important.
  2. I also said he could be a bad base stealer.
  3. I wonder if Eragon believes MLB teams could actually do without a 1B coach since he refused to answer my question???
  4. I never said it stunted it. I said it hasn't allowed it to develop. You can't learn anything about MLB pitchers being in AAA.
  5. True. When the team has zero chance of making the playoffs, entertain the crowd. It's Kawasaki's best tool, besides being one.
  6. What is the purpose of the 1B coach? Is it to yell "back", because the runner on 1B can't see that the pitcher is gonna throw over? Is it to tell the batter running to 1B to take 2B because the hitter can't see the play unravelling in front of him? Or in Sierra's case, not go to 2B on every ball he hits because he just isn't that fast to make it or bright enough to stop at 1B? There has to be more to the job than that. Otherwise Mike Coolbaugh wasted his time for nothing.
  7. Maybe he is a bad base stealer? Maybe the fringe MLB pitchers in AAA and have been to the majors, are far more refined in what they need to do in controlling the running game than a 22/23 year old kid. Maybe some of the catcher's in AAA are guys destined to be MLB backup's (usually defensive specialists) who are good working with the former MLB or AAA level pitchers? This part below is also a guess: I forget if it was 2012 or 2013 and the word in Vegas or Buffalo was Gose looked very disinterested. He wasn't going hard for balls in the OF and I believe at one point was getting CS at the same rate as stealing. I believe in and around that time he could've actually made the team or been called up due to an injury (Melky, maybe??) but was still being kept in AAA. And I believe we saw it with a different pitcher last year and into this. Marcus Stroman making noise about not getting promoted last year. The situation being where someone doesn't get a promotion or recognized when the opportunity is there and they can see it. IMO you have two types of reactions...One being one that rebels and does less (Gose) and the other one who strives and tries harder as shown by example of Stroman who's gone out and dominated the IL so far. Just guesses on my part and maybe looking too deep into things. I know its a s*** attitude to have especially in pro sports. But when things like this happen you have different sets of personalities.
  8. I just made it all up. Thus there's no reason to and I've never heard of teams checking the time it takes for a specific pitcher to deliver the ball. Never heard teams or players watching a pitcher for a tip off, if he's going to the plate or throwing over. Sorry for making s*** up
  9. It takes time for a base stealer to study and get down the nuances of MLB pitchers moves, timing, etc... Being jockeyed between the majors and minors doesn't allow for that development.
  10. Rasmus better be out the door. An extension is the absolute last thing I wanna see.
  11. Its not really a fad. And you have to take into consideration the other aspects of his game. Kinda like if Devon White couldn't hit HR's we could call him Anthony Gose.
  12. Still better than Sierra. And historically April is Gose's worst month offensively in the minors (stats from 2011-present day)
  13. Aside from making a trade, who was your suggestion for MIF call up?
  14. It would be a playoff killer
  15. Well, Weeks was bad last year. Was maybe a 2nd tier 2B in 2012 and is brutal this year. All at a measly cost of 11m plus whatever we give up. Sounds like a phenomenal deal to me.
  16. So for a month plus you've been okay with Goins, even though he's a bench player at best. And if Getz or Kawasaki come up and don't do much you're gonna rage? Rage away.
  17. I believe Drew said he was only signing a one year deal. So sign Drew to a huge chunk of money & lose a pick in a year that means zilch. Not smart. or trade some more big farmhands for Utley, a damaged, aging, expensive player that immediately prevents us from taking on any smart money players for 2015. Not smart.
  18. Never knew you were in the DDL
  19. Why? McGowan to the pen, like I said before ST when everyone was salivating at him starting or just wanting him to start until his arm falls off. McGowan, as a set up guy, Redmond to the back end of the rotation until Stroman comes up. It's mind numbing how fundamentally poor Sierra is at bat, in the field and on the bases. DFA Sierra and bring up Mastro. Atleast we'd have a guy that could back up at all 3 OF positions.
  20. Wow, this fascination with casual fans has really grown on you. Maybe for you and others that feel the need to connect.
  21. Just goes to show you how little the higher-ups are aware of what's happening, could happen on the field. Top 5 farm.....gut it. We're going after some wily vets. We want guys with stories behind them (no pun intended) we can pitch and sell to the fans.
