  1. An argument can be made Schneider > India, with more years of control
  2. It's normal practice. Any team can do the same. If Ohtani has agreed to defer $200M to be paid out after the contract terminates in 10 years, that $200M is worth $130M (guesstimating) today.
  3. They don't, they want to be treated the same as everyone else. Did you know it is legal to fire someone for being gay, in many US states?
  4. Not a loophole at all, but normal accounting practice. The deal is not 10/700, with the deferrals and accounting for the time value of money, the deal is closer to 10/600
  5. Ah so the deferrals are discounted to today's dollars, and the discounted value counts towards the cap. Makes sense.
  6. It's my opinion and I'm sticking to it. You can have yours.
  7. I see the opposite. Toronto was his preferred destination, and the Dodgers had to pony up considerably more than the Jay's to get him.
  8. Blue Jays are incredibly effective at salary enforcement.
  9. I am 1000% sure Shohei is a Jay, and it will be announced tomorrow. I don't care if BNS and Shi poo-poo'ed DodgersNation, that just tells me they want to stay on Ohtani's good side (the whole secrecy thing)
  10. My optimistic take is that someone with the Dodgers, knowing Ohtani is signing with the Jays, in a fit of angst because carefully laid plans had failed, leaked the news. So let's be patient, Ohtani is ours.
  11. Someone with a fair number of followers posted 12/596 last night
