  1. this is his first year with regular playing time. i'm not expecting him to become bautista, but he should increase his plate discipline and become less susceptible to slumps. to say it's 75% he will not have a better season than this one is statistically extreme he's a 4th OF on a good team. if he isn't going to get regular playing time with the jays next season, i'm sure some team will move a useful player for him and play him every day. he'll get his chances to outperform 2015 and likely will
  2. not so sure..... he's been inconsistent, typical of young players, but has shown he can swing a hot bat. he'll get more consistent with experience. i would consider it more likely he has a couple of better seasons than this one, down the road.
  3. 6 games is not a good statistical sample
  4. unlikely to be much if any time off for the regulars..... it will be a dogfight with the Royals for league crown to the end
  5. adding to this, home field advantage should be the focus, not who the Jays might face. postseason series are short and any team can get lucky. home field advantage is the only available hedge against the influence of random 'lady luck'
  6. true, a lot of things translate, speed, arm strength/accuracy, jump, pitch velocity, etc. but what separates an AAAA player from a MLB'er are things like pitch recognition, plate discipline, command.... and these are the things developed in MILB. laughable to see all the posters calling Hoffman a bust due to low K rate and overall underwhelming MILB stats coming off TJS. he's more likely to 'bust out' than 'bust'
  7. You are right, not all. 70-80% of minor leaguers are unfinished products.
  8. In conclusion: Pillar - 4th OF, pinchrunner, late inning defensive replacement Colabello - AAAA player Smoak - replacement level, bench bat, platoon player
  9. all minor league stats are misleading
  10. not ready to call Estrada over Burly..... if Burly is feeling good and has a solid start, he's the man
  11. Stro question answered. Postseason rotation - Price, Stroman, Dickey are locks. 4th between Estrada and Burly. Would rather Burly but he needs to have a solid start
  12. even if JD gets a hit to win the game, the real winner of the game is JB
  13. betances is off... no way he wanted the go ahead run to move to 2B
  14. good job pillar.... now a wild pitch ties it
  15. 3 of the best hitters in baseball coming up sleep tight
