  1. Of course when there is parity among competitors, it is the intangibles like character, office culture, staff morale that determines who wins and loses. Among baseball teams there is not parity, results are still talent driven, but among teams that are relatively equal, the intangibles can make the difference.
  2. Character, interpersonal skills is a consideration in hiring decisions in the business world, increasing with position level. No reason why the same benefits, difficult to quantify would not also apply to a sports team. I'd rather have a Tulo at 4.2 WAR than a Yunel at 4.7 WAR. I know a guy who has earned $400K in the past 10 years on termination pay from CFO jobs. He's very knowledgeable, articulate, has all the applicable certifications, tax law s*** and stuff, would be a great interview. But is an absolute dick. He'll probably earn another $400K in termination pay over the next 10 years, along with the $250K annual salary.
  3. i don't think Papa gives a flying f*** if he hits 200IP or not
  4. he's done.... might give it a go next year but doubt it. if he does, expect it to be bad..... don't want to see him dfa'ed
  5. beanballs?
  6. he wasn't rushed, he earned it from his play last season and in ST. the only 'rush' was sending him down to the minors after a month. he would have been traded at the deadline if the Jays had no 2016 plans for him i expect he will be a starter out of spring training.... one of pillar or revere moved
  7. the 2nd headline is "McCutchen never bringing back dreadlocks" lol
  8. he'll never hit enough to be an all star he's good though, who knows if this is his peak or he will continue to get better.... i think he'll have even better years, but would still trade high on him this offseason.... Pompey is ready and Alford not far behind
  9. JD's walkoff is not one of the ESPN headlines lol anti-canadian bias is real
  10. Something wasn't right with Pompey at the beginning of the season. Late last season showed us what he is capable of
  11. that wasn't the issue though. morrow, johnson, and romero was the issue
  12. gibby has nothing to do with any of those things. credit AA for a professional, hard working team. credit gibby for filling out a lineup card and making stupid in game decisions
  13. i see Heyward going to the Mets, big market team loaded with pitching and lots of salary room (they are #21 of 30)
  14. yes, pompey has better tools at the plate, possibly on the basepaths, and is probably just slightly below Pillar in the field
  15. revere has been a consistent 2-3 WAR player. pillar is having a great year but has a poor approach at the plate - i'm not sold that he'll be better than revere over the next few years
  16. maybe but i'm not sure a Pillar, Pompey, Bautista/Saunders OF will cut it. Revere, Pompey, Bautista/Saunders has two solids
  17. Sorry, Gibby has been making stupid moves all year. He's a brutal manager.
  18. Agreed. Zero reason to bring in Osuna in that situation. Save him for tomorrow.
  19. want to see a sell high on Pillar for a good prospect.... like bonehead for Travis or Marcum for Lawrie deals Pillar is a good asset but Pompey has the higher ceiling and needs to play full time
  20. want to see the longest serving Jay celebrating
  21. Jays tv ratings have almost doubled since July, which Rogers cares about more. Much more.
  22. this is baseball bro. strange things can happen
  23. A hero to short people everywhere
  24. dont be such a weakling
  25. a 6 or 7 year wager...... lol
