Nah I just prefer the dynasty route. Proper asset management a la Sam Pollock moves JVR at the deadline. And gutting draft picks for a d-man in the offseason? You want to go back to the old Leafs approach?
By the way, the game has changed, speed wins in today's NHL. Same as in MLB (for other reasons), prospects and picks have increased in value in the NHL.
There are excellent d-man prospects on the Marlies. One of them was called up (Dermott) and may be a 1st pairing d-man as soon as next season.
Like I said, I prefer the dynasty approach. If you prefer the one-window approach, where picks are gutted for shut down d-men approaching or in their decline years, so be it. We disagree.
