  1. Thread is getting intense, let's cool down boys. I've made my views clear. One fatty in the lineup is enough.
  2. This post is laughable. Of course they were well aware. Maybe they waited til the end of season when the games got more critical, to limit the injury risk / maybe Jansen was still banged up. The loss of a catcher that works every day with and is familiar with the pitching staff is far worse than any other position player.
  3. The team didn't miss anything. I am sure if asked, Shatkins/Schneider will have perfectly valid reasons for Jansen generally being in the bottom 3rd of the order.
  4. why would you have 2 other FT C
  5. The value of a C that can play different positions is the flex to sub in a roster player in lieu of some AAAA shitballer, and the health benefits.
  6. Who are you talking about, dummy. Kirk or Moreno? Are you seriously saying a player with C/2B/3B/OF flex has less value than a C alone?
  7. Ruiz' 85 wRC+ in the first half and 102 wRC+ in the second half is indicative of his upward trajectory. He *should* be comfortably above average as a hitter in 2023. Kirk was at 106 wRC+ in 2021. I see Moreno on par with Kirk as a hitter, with a much more well rounded game.
  8. Chances are, right now Kirk is stuffing his face. While I trust Shatkins to make the best available deal, I hope he is the one traded. On the other hand, let's not forget Moreno can play multiple positions. He holds immense value to a contending team such as the Jays.
  9. Just accept me as a peer and the pain is gone
  10. Jays don't need a front line starter, in any event Keep Tiedemann, move one of the 3 C for the best SP you can get, or failing that, the best CF you can get
  11. It's about maximizing value. If the Jays and Jansen can come to a reasonable extension agreement, then maximizing value is to trade Kirk or Moreno. If they can't, the maximum value is by trading Jansen. Extending Jansen and trading Kirk or Moreno can be done in parallel, the trade being the conditional piece. Of course, if someone wants to overpay for Kirk or Moreno, then you just do the deal, extension or no. Jays are in a unique situation of having 3 starter calibre MLB catchers, and hence value each catcher less than other teams. They can parlay that into a fairly significant team improvement, even more so if they look after the player salary end at the same time.
  12. It's simply common sense man, why would the Jays trade Kirk or Moreno and take the risk of Jano walking in 2 yrs.
  13. C'mon man. Kirk or Moreno don't get moved unless Jansen extends. If he doesn't, bye bye Jano
  14. This one?
  15. I'd for sure move him to a corner, and tell him no diving for balls and watch out for Bo.
  16. Chisholm higher ceiling, Pena higher floor would be the conventional assessment. Although, personally I think Pena's ceiling is just as high as Chisholm's. Maybe the way to approach it - if you have a good team already, Pena. If your team sucks and needs breakout elite contributors, Chisholm.
  17. Thanks for reminding me of Ms. White
  18. Stupid, but on the other hand, maybe it will increase umpire accountability and result in some of them (you know who they are) being let go. Wishful thinking?
  19. Big difference between a 1 year and a multi year. Jays should qualify Stripling.
  20. One of the C gets moved, the return priority is SP, CF, .......... RP. Again, RP are highly volatile. It's just as probable Abreu shits the bed in 2023 as not. Phils have a middling BP, look where they are.
  21. It's very far from ideal. You want to keep the DH position open, for many reasons. One of the three C need to be moved, without question. I trust Shatkins to find a fair return.
  22. Disagree on the limited window bit, expending assets to fit an arbitrary contender window is never right Also, the RP volatility bit is the biggest part of my post, that you didn't respond to
  23. Planning a bullpen is kinda a fool's errand no? So much volatility. I'd rather the Jays try and grab some electric prospect RP arms rather than sign or trade for "established" RP types that are just as likely to s*** the bed as not.
