They were, second is preventing dunks, 6th in layups, 3rd in shutting down the corner three, 6th in defensive rebounding.
What really killed them is their fouling, they were second worse is opp FT/FG attempts, but the Nets were the worst in that regard which makes sense because of all the close games and just the tempo the series had, so yea im going to say that negatively inflated their defensive rating, along with their inability to cause turnovers ( but again im going to say thats a combination of what they do and the team their playing . Overall they were 8th in the playoffs out of 16 teams in defensive rating so even if you disagree with how I look at and approach things, im not sure how you can explicitly state they were "bad" when the only number you used puts them right in the middle of the pack
