  1. Not even remotely surprised by what they're saying "sachmo55 replied to a thread Rasmus is underrated in Toronto Blue Jays Forum - Meh, they'll just make fun of the playoff-less jays and say the rasmus would suck if the jays were in a playoff race"
  2. What's the point of making useless polls?
  3. Kendrick would be a huge upgrade a 2B
  4. Meh, they'll just make fun of the playoff-less jays and say the rasmus would suck if the jays were in a playoff race
  5. Derosa's actually put up a pretty good batted ball profile, I can he being slightly better than replacement level production by the season's end. If leadership actually can provide some real value (i.e. improving other players), I would be okay with having a slightly above replacement level vetern bench player vs a run of the mill 1ish WAR bench player
  6. Gose had a 5.1 BsR in 56 games last years ... thats a pretty good baserunner lol
  7. I'd say the WAR swing of Lawrie playing at his career averages is more than 2-3. Given that our current 3B WAR is -1.0 and -1.8 for 2B, a 3 WAR season (which is what 2012 Lawrie effectively did) is closer to a 5 WAR Swing
  8. JJ has a 0.9 WAR He's got a 4.08 FIP and a 3.58 xFIP
  9. In my mind, the Jays playoff hopes ride largely on 2 players: Dickey and Lawrie If Dickey proves that he struggles are because of injuries, and he returns to being the low strikeout/walk guy with a lot of GB's he was in 2010/2011 that always beat his FIP (He's still posting low babip's this year) AND Lawrie becomes a slightly better version of his 2012 self (2.5 WAR in 125 games) Then were talking about a big WAR swing from this season (3ish WAR from Dickey (I prefer bWAR for dickey) and 5WAR from Lawrie vs our current 3B/2B production... because our current production is NEGATIVE WAR)
  10. This. I don't think it would be that hard to sell Johnson as a still good pitcher who just needs a change of scenery kind of guy
  11. 110 Mill Committed to 13 players next season, and 91 Mill in 2015 for 7(!) players. Something needs to be done otherwise this team will have a tough time treading water in the next 2 years.
  12. Can Jose's back handle 3B?
  13. You can't cover every hole, but when your team goes all in with a small window of opportunty you should have more depth than the Jays assembled Its pretty telling when your first starter gets injured, and you start using guys like Ramon Ortiz and Aaron Laffey, because you basically have no one else to go to.
  14. Im sure Im kind of data mining here, but one trend that Rasmus seemed to have in the past is that he tends to get really swing happy in June and it contiues till the the end of august (and pitchers tend to tear him apart in July and August). This year he's done a lot better of a job of holding a solid walk rate in june and july thus far. Im hoping this is the result of a conscious effort.
  15. It was a bit of a strawman, but i guess ive seen ppl say the similar things and tried to address them. But i guess my quip revolves are the ideas of: - where is the line between enough money & being taken advantage of by the organization? - how much influence does an agent/players union have? (See my quote from the matt harrington story)
  16. Also, this reminded me of the story of Matt Harrington, which I think gives an idea of the pressure on the players from both their agents and the players union. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/eticket/story?page=090423/harrington
  17. If every drafted player offered a sizable sum of money were to not turn it down, where would the players ever get negotiating leverage?
  18. 6.8 K/9, 3.95 BB/9 Would be okay with these as MLB numbers, but not as AAA numbers. Still a long way to go, but at least he's not walking everyone anymore
  19. It's a legitimate concern Question is whether it's a mental/physical issue (can't handle a full season) or can it be a case of purely random variance? Or a bit of both?
  20. It was crazy, he had already produced like 2 seasons worth of value of his contract in that span
  21. Yeah, his normal go to move has been that his critics haven't played the game Now for Hayhust and Zaun he went with the rebuttal of "How dare such scrubs critize me!"
  22. He's a run producer. Run producers don't walk, that just clogs up the bases. We don't know what we're talking about. #Top10Catcher
  23. I'll be dissapointed if this is the case lol

    NHL Thread

    Madness, pure madness
  25. He's also a brand name pitcher though And were talking about a major sellers market for pitching too
