Ventura is coming off one of his best starts of the season in a win over Houston, tossing seven innings and allowing one run on six hits with no walks and five strikeouts. Buehrle got a no-decision in his last outing against Seattle, as he gave up 10 hits and three runs in 5 2/3 innings. Buehrle had a streak of nine consecutive starts of going at least six innings and giving up two or fewer runs snapped. Three things to know about this game • Right-hander Mark Lowe and left fielder Ben Revere are expected to make their Blue Jays debuts on Saturday afternoon. Both players were acquired in the hours leading up to Friday's non-waiver Trade Deadline. Lowe will settle into a setup role alongside LaTroy Hawkins and Brett Cecil, while Revere is expected to get most of the playing time in left field. • Eric Hosmer has a 13-game hitting streak for the Royals. This is his third hitting streak of 12 games or longer. His career long was 16 in 2014. • Royals right-hander Chris Young is officially back in the bullpen, even though his ERA of 3.25 is second among starters (Edinson Volquez has a 3.21 ERA). Manager Ned Yost has decided to keep Jeremy Guthrie (5.65 ERA) as his starter.
  3. What vehicle is that?
  4. What is up with Pompey I presume they just feel he needs everyday playing time and isn't quite MLB ready?
  5. Johnny Cueto vs Drew Hutchison Gametime Forecast: 77°F • Light Rain • 67% PoP Lineups: Blue Jays: 1. Troy Tulowitzki ® SS 2. Josh Donaldson ® 3B 3. Jose Bautista ® RF 4. Edwin Encarnacion ® DH 5. Justin Smoak (S) 1B 6. Russell Martin ® C 7. Ezequiel Carrera (L) LF 8. Kevin Pillar ® CF 9. Ryan Goins (L) 2B Royals: 1. Alcides Escobar ® SS 2. Mike Moustakas (L) 3B 3. Omar Infante ® 2B MLB.com preview by By Jamie Ross Right-hander Johnny Cueto will make his highly anticipated Royals debut when he takes the mound against Blue Jays righty Drew Hutchison tonight at Rogers Centre. Cueto, who was acquired from the Reds on Sunday, has been among the biggest names to move ahead of today's non-waiver Trade Deadline. Cueto is facing the Blue Jays for the third time in his career. He's 2-0 with a 3.86 ERA in two starts against Toronto. Cueto is fresh off tossing eight scoreless innings against the Rockies on Saturday, allowing only four hits and a walk. He has allowed two earned runs or fewer in five of his past six starts, and is 3-2 with a 2.18 ERA and a 0.90 WHIP over his past seven games. Things to know about this game • Hutchison has struggled with consistency, but he has pitched considerably better at home than on the road. Hutchison owns a 2.21 ERA at Rogers Centre compared to a 9.00 ERA on the road. • Edwin Encarnacion could be back in the Blue Jays' lineup. The slugger was a late scratch on Wednesday and sat out Thursday after he jammed his finger on a swing sometime this week. He was considered day to day, but manager John Gibbons said Friday could be a possible return date. Encarnacion has reached base safely in 30 of his 33 career games against the Royals. • The Royals are 2-0-1 in series play against Toronto in the last three sets between the clubs.
  6. I'll have today's GDT up in about 90 mins There seems to be lots to discuss elsewhere.
  7. Yep You have to aim for the division So many games against the Yankees that it's possible. That has to be the goal. Not the wildcard.
  8. Admitted self-interest: I might be going to the game on Thursday and would kill for it to be Price pitching. But it almost certainly won't be.
  9. Honestly though, there are 4 off days in August. I'd consider skipping Hutch or Estrada to squeeze an extra start out of Price. Would anyone else? Would Gibby??
  10. That's what I said in the trade thread. LOL Ride him in to the ground and let the Yankees or Dodgers give him 7 years 200M starting next year.
  11. Doubront was Tuesday as well, I guess that makes it easy So, starting today: Hutch Buerhle Price Dickey Estrada ?
  12. Has Gibbons announced who will go in what order from here on out? Price last pitched on Tuesday. Doubront is out. Who gets shuffled?
