  1. If he keeps the walks down I'm excited. And he did so all spring and his first start. This is a decent lineup and will be great to see how he does. Cheering for him hard.
  2. I know the Red Sox are going the be the better team, but I still sort of want them to beat the annoyingly undrafeted Orioles today. Even out the standings a bit.
  3. Defense is still great so even if he's now just a league average hitter he's still a good player (though maybe an overpaid one). That said, I think most will agree he's likely to hit better this year than last. He's been too good for too many years not to be likely to bounce back, and he should still have some good years left, at age 31 now. He also looked good in spring training. Only time will tell though.
  4. Disagree Gibbons fault He doesn't GAF about Pillar's feelings. He gave him the role because he thought it was a good idea
  5. Though to be fair, lineup construction probably hadn't cost us a game yet. The f'n pitching man...
  6. If I'm Gibbons that's exactly what I do
  7. Pretty sure that was a minority opinion which is why I'm mocking it. Teams have too much advanced scouting information and stats to not know how to get guys out who have weaknesses. Every team's book surely says "free swinger and chases with 2 strikes". He has good plate coverage and puts the ball in play a lot, which avoids the strikeouts but he's still just a slightly less than average hitter. And we're giving him more.plate appearances than 6 or 7 guys who are clearly better. He should be hitting 9th.
  8. So... The confidence boost and better pitches thrown to him by getting in front of big hitters hasn't caused his OBP skills to boost by 30+ points??? Shocker...
  9. Yeah. He's been stinking it up... Gotta be patient even though it's hard to watch.
  10. He hasn't hit for one week. That's all. He's good.
  11. There is something to managing BP guys workloads. Ensuring enough rest AND keeping key guys tuned up. It's part of the behind the scenes we don't get to know about. It's probably not easy.
  12. Monday is though And he hasn't pitched since Monday So I sorta get it
  13. I dunno. I sort of get why Gibbons wanted to get Osuna in to the game today
  14. That's what I thought too, but Barney is pretty versatile... Someone has to go to Buffalo.
  15. Yeah even last year started off just as poorly
