    Well they've been paying Ortiz 15/16M a year forever. Edwin at 18-20 wouldn't be a big change. That said, they may want to save $ at the DH position after their legendary DH retires.

    The thought of Happ and Estrada facing Edwin many times a year, always at the RC or Fenway (ug) frankly terrifies me

    Maybe. Hard to say. How much does Edwin not want to go the Red Sox and how much would they overpay to sign him to replace Papi?

    Such a right-heavy top of the lineup, but they can all hit LHP and RHP well so it doesn't really matter

    Travis (who will miss April of course) or Pompey might earn it they prove a good ability to get on base over the first half of the season But to start the year I'd go Tulo. Career .369 OBP, though he hasn't been a SB threat in 5 years. I like JB/JD/EE 2,3,4 too much to move one up.

    No one will WANT to give Bautista 5 years. They will want him for 3. But with next year's weak FA class I think he gets 4 or 5.

    Yeah, good point. Especially Edwin based on what his agent said. If he's not signed before this season starts I would think we have little chance to re sign him next ofd season.

    I suspect he likes it here. But I wouldn't count on him taking less money to stay here vs Boston.

    That's just it. I hope we can afford to keep one, and if so I'd pick Bautista. With the money JD and Tulo will be making, I don't see any waynthey could afford to pay both 20-24M a year. There's just no way.

    Red Sox will be all over Edwin. You couldn't find a more logical replacement for Ortiz and the timing is perfect. Will be hard to outbid them.
