  1. By Steve Adams | February 9, 2017 at 1:16pm CDT First baseman/designated hitter Byung Ho Park has cleared waivers and been outrighted off the Twins’ 40-man roster, reports La Velle E. Neal III of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. The team has since announced the move. Park will be in camp with the Twins as a non-roster invitee in Spring Training. Park was somewhat surprisingly designated for assignment last week in order to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for right-hander Matt Belisle, who signed as a free agent. However, the guaranteed $9.25MM remaining on Park’s contract allowed him to pass through waivers unclaimed, and he’ll now remain with the Twins and vie for a job in camp or early this season after getting in some work with the Twins’ Triple-A affiliate in Rochester.
  2. They have Jim Leyland managing after all
  3. Really though. What do they need him for they have Posey and Lucroy???
  4. Sure, they COULD have had Kershaw/Scherzer starting But damn that's still a good team
  5. USA possible lineup: Nolan Arenado, 3B Ian Kinsler, 2B Paul Goldschmidt, 1B Giancarlo Stanton, LF Eric Hosmer or Daniel Murphy, DH Buster Posey, C Andrew McCutchen, RF Brandon Crawford, SS Adam Jones, CF Starting rotation: Chris Archer J A Happ Michael Fullmer Marcus Stroman Bullpen: Andrew Miller Brett Cecil David Robertson Mychal Givens Tyler Clippard Danny Duffy Sam Dyson
  6. Great lineup US has better pitching as usual (and pretty fantastic lineup too really)
  7. Russel Martin Martin Freeman Morgan Freeman Freddie Freeman Full circle
  8. Freeman feels the same here as he does with his MLB team
  9. Jaw drops That USA teams looks pretty f'n good
  10. This made me look up contracts and WAR for some of the big signings Cano put up 6 fWAR (7.3 bWAR) last year, damn... He could easily continue to supply value for a few more years at his 24M per season rate Contract is still at least 2 years too long but...
  11. I'd do 7/180 or so comfortably He's already getting 17M and is going to get 20M+ in arb 3 anyway...
  12. Not confirmed in exact detail. Just confirmed that Jays offered MORE Donaldson is better (Similar bat, and has more defensive value) and younger than Edwin though. They'd go higher for him I suspect in both $ and years
  13. Jim Bowden - Rays made the biggest offer to Romo Offered "much more" than LA
  14. Also teams have mostly held back from dumb contracts for one dimensional players 1 WAR sluggers who hit 30 to 40 HR aren't worth 20M a year 36 year olds shouldn't be given 4 year deals, nor should 30 year olds be given 8-10 year deals Front offices have gotten smarter
  15. Napoli 8.5M Carter 3M Hammel 8M Waiting it out didn't help anyone The only guys who got paid were the ones who signed early Desmond, Edwin, Morales etc
  16. As long as the performance is good and he doesn't bother other guys on the team and as long as Gibby can manage him I don't care I'd prefer a SP who was overconfident (M Stroman) then underconfident (R Romero)
  17. Yeah Some managers wouldn't have the stones to do this (Like Girardi with Granderson)
