  1. Feel like their owner actually understands how to manage a team long term
  2. Yeah I can certainly understand why the Rangers and Mets don't want DeGrom and Verlander participating Especially DeGrom
  3. Once the again the USA doesn't line up as well SP wise as they could No Verlander No deGrom No Scherzer Betts Mullins Trout OF though is pretty gangster The IF is also killer
  4. In all honestly what do you do with all these star SS/3B??? Nice problem to have! LOL Machado, Devers, Pena, Franco like FFS
  5. As expected, the DR has to be the heavy favorite. Tough to beat this team: 1B - Vladimir Guerrero Jr. 2B - Jeremy Peña SS - Wander Franco or Jeremy Peña 3B - Manny Machado or Rafael Devers LF - Juan Soto CF - Julio Rodríguez RF - Eloy Jiménez C - Gary Sanchez DH - Probably Devers cause you have to use Machado over him at 3B unless you want to go 2B Franco SS Machado 3B Devers. Also have Nelson Cruz. Bench: Mejia, Segura, Adames, Teoscar Hernandez, Nelson Cruz and a bunch of others SP: Sandy Alcantara Framber Valdez Cristian Javier BP: Bryan Abreu Camilo Doval Cesar Valdez Diego Castillo Emmanuel Clase Gregory Soto Hector Neris Jhoan Duran Johnny Cueto Rafael Montero Yimi Garcia
  6. Not bad at all, I agree Coaching staff is pretty cool actually though you're right about Whitt Ernie Whitt Manager Denis Boucher Pitching Coach Larry Walker First Base Coach Tim Leiper Third Base Coach Paul Quantrill Bullpen Coach Greg Hamilton Coach Russell Martin Coach
  7. Happy birthday man!!
  8. Check out every team's announced roster here: https://www.mlb.com/world-baseball-classic/teams
  9. Starting this now to separate it from all the Spring Training news, discussion and threads that will be starting. A good preview from MLB.com: https://www.mlb.com/news/2023-world-baseball-classic-rosters It’s nearly here. After a six-year wait, the World Baseball Classic has returned, and it’s bigger than ever. That’s not hyperbole, either: The tournament field has been expanded to 20 teams, with three first-time participants in Great Britain, the Czech Republic and Nicaragua hoping for a Cinderella run. But they’ll need to get past Japan (looking for its third title), the USA (hoping for a repeat), the Dominican Republic (the pre-tournament favorite) and Puerto Rico (trying to win it all following back-to-back second-place finishes). Baseball is more of a global game than ever before, and that’s proven on the rosters: There are 67 MLB All-Stars, 186 players on 40-man rosters and 332 players under contract with big league teams. There are eight Major League MVPs in Paul Goldschmidt, Mike Trout, Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman, Mookie Betts, Clayton Kershaw, Jose Altuve and Miguel Cabrera. In fact, 16 of the top 18 finishers for the 2022 NL MVP and six of the top 10 finishers for the 2022 AL MVP are scheduled to participate in the 2023 World Baseball Classic, with the reigning Nippon Professional Baseball MVP Munetaka Murakami and Korea Baseball Organization MVP Jung-Hoo Lee joining in, too. .........................
  10. Most of those teams on the left went into the season knowing they were non-contenders so they fielded a crappy team or let young potentials play Angels don't have that excuse Just wow
  11. Yeah, that seems more like maybe a *worrisome* weight loss rather than a positive one
  12. Gose for pinch runner and 8th inning RP
  13. It is if the bat is well above average (which Bo's is - career wRC+ 127), and it helps if the rest of the IF defense is good. Chapman is elite. Vladdy is good. Now who is going to get the most playing time at 2B? Espinal, Merrifield, Biggio? And are we OK with that...
  14. This seems like a larger priority than a Darvish extension...
  15. Padres Expected To Pursue Extension With Manny Machado February 9th, 2023 at 4:54pm CST • By Darragh McDonald The Padres already grabbed headlines earlier today by agreeing to an extension with Yu Darvish that runs through 2028. It seems the next order of business will be Manny Machado, with Dennis Lin of The Athletic reporting that the club is expected to explore a long-term deal with their third baseman prior to Opening Day. Machado’s current deal runs through 2028 but he can opt out after the upcoming campaign.
  16. Wow, ST is getting close!
  17. 100..... trillion... dollars!!!!!
  18. Heck no Those guys have much longer track records of CONSISTENT high level performance
  19. Doubt Kirk will ever be that fit again tho
  20. I'm temped to post some awful pretend pic of what Kirk might look like now but I won't. Even though there are loads of good options on Google image search.
  21. This Jays front office seems to like settling out the arb years in advance just so it's done and reduces the possibility of stress and conflict. And also so it's easier to budget. Have they actually even gone to arbitration with any player recently? They've now done this sort of thing with Chapman and Bichette. I was kind of expecting the same for Jansen but would prefer a deal that buys out some FA years instead.
  22. Prob swung and missed here...
  23. Cance to win 1 in 350,000
  24. And then trade him too late of course It's what they do
