  1. Maybe on average and in the B class of FA SPs But some big $$ team (Padres, Dodgers, Yankees) will probably still pay big $ for Rodon specifically
  2. Yeah. Stripling and the team knew he wouldn't get a big big $ offer. And I like the Bassit deal better It was likely right to not qualify him all things considered.
  3. Terminator saw the opportunity to use the word "thrice" and took it. Like a BOSS.
  4. Should the Jays have qualified him? Would have offset the draft pick loss for signing Bassit But would have hurt his market which was obviously a bit weak. Clearly no one sees him as a full time rotation piece.
  5. Agreed Red Sox are a complete mess with no direction and once again might be the worst team in the division as the rosters currently stand. Orioles seem ready to strike but just aren't quite "going for it" yet.
  6. Me too I would have happily kept him for that price Paying Kikuchi to suck and Ryu to not pitch hurts
  7. Shi Davidi was on MLB Network this morning. With significant paraphrasing on my part... His impression based on early off season intetests vs the last few weeks required a pivot He thinks they prob had about 30M to spend comfortably. Plan A seemed to be signing Nimmo for CF and a cheaper SP in Heaney. Those seemed to be their primary targets early in the off season. It seemed like when they couldn't get traction with Nimmo that they changed plan slighty and went to plan B which was getting a less expensive OF and budgeting more for a SP. Hence KK and Bassit. (FWIW I'm quite fine with the Plan He thinks they are trying to work out a deal trading a catcher for a younger left handed hitter but has no idea who that might be, just knows that's what the FO wants. He thinks it's possible they might have tried to keep Stripling if the price was right but seeming less likely as time goes on that he'll stay.
  8. Yankees making their formal offer for Rodon ... Or something
  9. Was going to post something similar about batting KK only had only two true terrible batting seasons. Most recently he has been in the 90-104 wRC+ range. If he can keep up average/slightly below average hitting that's OK. JBJ is a HUGE liability in the lineup. KK is not. He's not great but he's acceptable if he keeps up the defense.
  10. Most of their MLB roster is on huge $$ contracts
  11. Yeah Legit ace pitchers are 36-43M now Insane
  12. Agreed We needed a sure thing SP to slot 3 or 4
  13. I would trade for a lefty bat before acquiring a back end starter if those are the options
  14. Done And I hope it comes true
  15. Stolen from a Teeet: Most Defensive Runs Saved Since 2015 1. Kevin Kiermaier 133 Andrelton Simmons 133 3. Mookie Betts 127 4. Nolan Arenado 125 Next closest: 80
  16. No one on the AL East has spent much at all on free agents compared to other divisions Other than Judge just to keep him
  17. I haven't liked hardly any of the free agent deals this offseason from team/dollars perspectives. Don't mind the player in the right role but don't like this deal at all.
  18. Scott Boras must LOVE owners like Cohen
  19. I think last year Yankees were trying to reset the luxury tax weren't they
  20. Steve Cohen
  21. Mets are currently slated to pay a CB Tax of about $67MM on top of a $322MM payroll. If they're done.
  22. s*** Kikuchi is going to be our 4th or 5th starter isn't he
  23. The contracts these free agent shortstops are currently getting too......
  24. Also f*** the Red Sox
  25. Holy massive $$$$$$$
