After the A's finish losing this game to Yankees today (in spectacular fashion I might add) they will be on pace for 34 wins for rhe season
They could challenge for a top 10 all time historical worst WL record.
Tough schedule coming up as as we all know
PHI x2
ATL x3
NYY x4 (though I feel pretty good about this series based on current roster/play)
BAL x3
TBR x4
And not much easier until June 19 when we get MIA, OAK, SFG
The Donaldson and Chapman trades are so lopsided it's not even funny
Billy Beane's trade record from his last 5-6 years before he quit as GM is atrocious.
The alternative is to trade them both when they have 1.5-2 years of control left for a haul. Tampa would do exactly this of course but I don't think this FO would. And the Jays can afford to carry a few big contracts.
Letting each walk for a second round draft pick after declining a QO is the only completely unacceptable option.
Personally I'm 100% in favour of extending both. Both could be perennial top 10-15 hitters for another decade. Heart and soul of the franchise. Those are rare.
