  1. Espinal is by far the most egregious of course. He's there mostly for the defense and he hasn't even provided that while hitting .171/.237/.229 He was expected to get plenty of playing time but he's somehow dropped himself from All Star to AAA option/DFA candidate
  2. This year, Chapman Bo and Vladdy carried the team for 6 weeks to start Need to spread it around more cause Chapman has cooled off and our 25M leadoff hitter continues to get on base less than 30% of the time FTR I think Springer will be fine at some point but hopefully sooner than later cause it's killing us
  3. It's weird In the off season I felt really good about a bench of Merrifield/Espinal/Kirk/Biggio Now not so much..... Merrifield has shown himself able as an everyday player and Espinal/Biggo have done worse than nothing
  4. Freddie Freeman career HR #300
  5. A little over 1/4 of the way through the season It's down
  6. Didn't know they were up against a deadline with him Interesting year in Mets land
  7. Yes. Both AA/Beeston and Atkins/Shapiro clearly subscribed to this philosophy I'd be fine with a steady stream of pitchers, catchers and middle infielders that flourish in the organization Corner outfielders can be made/traded for
  8. Can't find that anywhere yet Just speculation ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mets To Select Gary Sanchez By Anthony Franco | May 18, 2023 at 11:59pm CDT The Mets are selecting the contract of veteran catcher Gary Sánchez, reports Andy Martino of SNY (Twitter link). He’s expected to be formally added to the roster before tomorrow’s game against the Guardians. The Mets will need to create a spot on the 40-man roster before the contest. Sánchez signed a minor league deal with the Mets a little over a week ago. It was his second non-roster pact of the season. He’d initially signed with the Giants shortly after Opening Day but never got a big league look thanks to significant struggles with their top affiliate in Sacramento. He opted out and caught on with New York thereafter. The two-time All-Star’s deal with the Mets allowed him to opt out if he wasn’t added to the MLB roster by tomorrow. He’s fortunately gotten out to a much better start for their Triple-A club in Syracuse than he had with Sacramento. He mashed at a .318/.531/.545 clip with a homer, two doubles, eight walks and nine strikeouts in seven games there. His overall Triple-A batting line for the season is a modest .208/.386/.286 thanks to the tough first month, but he’s clearly acquitted himself nicely in his brief time with his new organization. With the opt-out date looming, reports earlier in the week suggested the Mets were strongly considering calling Sánchez up. Now that they’ve done so, he’ll be guaranteed a prorated $1.5MM salary (roughly $1.1MM through season’s end). Even with the Mets paying a 110% tax on that figure, bringing their total expenditure to around $2.31MM, that’s a reasonable sum for a capable #2 catcher. Sánchez isn’t going to supplant highly-regarded rookie Francisco Álvarez as the starter. He’ll add an experienced depth option to the bench, offering some extra right-handed power for skipper Buck Showalter
  9. Definitely It's been awhile
  10. Mets select the contract of... Gary Sanchez
  11. Funny tidbit: If you Google "Aaron Hicks", the first question that pops up under Google's "People also ask" is: Why is Hicks still on the Yankees? Hicks 2023: .159/.243/.222 (not often you see a SLG < OBP) wRC+ 33 Bad defense DRS -2 UZR/150 -43.7 Negative 0.6 WAR It's hard to be that bad in the majors and still get regular playing time on a competitive team, but he has been.
  12. Hoping for Vladdy to pinch hit and pop one I see... Not a bad bet for the points return. And Jaysblue knows betting
  13. I should drive down there Cleanest air in the Province atm
  14. Hopefully Vladdy too........
  15. Cortes not as sharp early in the season as last year K rate down BB walk up FIP up
  16. Surprised game isn't earlier Oh well Win it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. Festivus miracle
  18. I'll say this again here The fact that it took Moreno to get Varsho The fact that the Yankees and others couldn't make a trade for Reynolds (a player the Yankees could have used desperately) Suggests asking prices were very high
  19. It's also great that big free agents in the 1B/2 class are willing to sign here now. Springer, Ryu, Gausman, Keirmaeier, etc. They'll never likely give a 30 year old FA a Bryce Harper contract (thank God) but it feels like the 90's again where this is an attractive place to be Feels good man. Now we just have to do some winning to help maintain it.
