  1. I'm sure it's rough going from "star player" to "no longer a star player but still getting paid really well" to "no one wants you anymore" For athletes you're only mid-late 30's often and it's all over and what do you do the rest of your life. Can't blame anyone for wanting the extra year or more.
  2. Votto was the saddest recent example of essentially forced retirement
  3. One more bat One more bat One more bat!!!
  4. Absolutely You have to add one more bat now
  5. Get Alonso or Bregman and we're ready to ROLL
  6. We need some news And games So tired of this off season
  7. Of the three I wanted Jansen to be the one to keep but that didn't happen and I was wrong anyway - he can't stay healthy. Of the other two I'd have projected Moreno to have a longer career but performance wise they're remarkably similar and will probably stay that way. Kirk is very good.
  8. Wander who?
  9. And the Rays!
  10. Rays To Sign Ha-Seong Kim By Darragh McDonald | January 29, 2025 at 2:10pm CDT The Rays and infielder Ha-Seong Kim have agreed to a two-year, $29MM contract, reports Jeff Passan of ESPN. The deal includes an opt-out after the first season for the Boras Corporation client. Kim will make $13MM this year and could unlock another $2MM via incentives, per Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times. If he doesn’t opt out, he’ll make $16MM in 2026.
  11. Plus honestly it just seems like he probably really wants to stay with the Mets but just get paid what he wants from them.
  12. The Reds have agreed to a one-year, $5MM deal with outfielder Austin Hays, reports Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.
  13. Probably yes
  14. And this is from a former Mets general manager who might actually know people who know something. All the more upsetting if none of it turns out to be true.
  15. He was full tilt on Soto, Sasaki and others. Aimed high that's for sure.
  16. I really can't see them getting both Alonso and Bregman. Too many teams in on Bregman. Alonso seems much more realistic.
  17. Honestly through if they do get Alonso but no other big additions what do you do? Alonso and Santander both DH a lot? Move Vladdy to 3B for good so Alsoso plays 1B full time? Trade Vladdy if he doesn't agree to an extension?
  18. Either way it's bad when the owner himself is involved and gets annoyed.
