  1. And Dickey is going again tonight? This I don't agree with. Everyone is rested. Why?
  2. Rangers Designate Carlos Pena For Assignment By Steve Adams [July 17, 2014 at 4:12pm CDT] The Rangers announced that they have designated first baseman Carlos Pena for assignment. That move, along with yesterday’s trade of Jason Frasor to the Royals, clears 40-man and 25-man roster spots for Geovany Soto and J.P. Arencibia — both of whom will be added to the big league roster. The veteran Pena batted .136/.190/.237 in 63 plate appearances for Texas after having his contract selected from Triple-A Round Rock. The 36-year-old had signed a minor league deal with the Rangers, who have lost first basemen Prince Fielder and Mitch Moreland for the season due to injuries. Soto will be activated from the 60-day disabled list and make his season debut for the Rangers sometime in the team’s upcoming three-game series against the Blue Jays. Arencibia, meanwhile, is a bit of an interesting story. The 28-year-old struggled tremendously with the Rangers earlier this season and was outrighted off the 40-man back in May after clearing waivers. However, he’s now picked up some experience at first base with Round Rock, and as Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports (on Twitter), that’s where the Rangers will use him this time around.
  3. Need games to watch I am getting aggravated
  4. And it's one inning, from the bullpen or not
  5. #Rays called up Curt Casali from Triple-A Durham. Wil Myers was moved to the 60-day DL to make room on the 40-man roster.
  6. Hot damn the Rangers are having a bad year
  7. It's a gamble, nothing more than that But If Delabar and Santos were having better years, would this have even been comtemplated? I guess that's what has people a bit freaked - why are they doing this? 1. Because the BP needs help (might make some sense but could backfire) 2. Because they think he's MLB ready and want to ease him in to the rotation (seems an odd time to do that - risky) 3. Is this just all some sort of weird posturing to make other GM's think he's more MLB ready than he really is (I don't like that thought somehow) If they are keeping him and grooming him for the major league rotation, I just don't sense from the numbers that he's ready. But they get to see him all the time and we don't.
  8. Mariners, Rays Discussing David Price, Ben Zobrist By Jeff Todd [July 17, 2014 at 2:10pm CDT] Though no deal is imminent, the Mariners have been engaged in ongoing discussions with the Rays regarding lefty David Price and utilityman Ben Zobrist, reports Jon Morosi of FOX Sports (Twitter links). Meanwhile, talks have stalled with the Phillies regarding Marlon Byrd. Needless to say, Price and Zobrist both represent potential impact to contenders. Either player could presumably add value to just about every roster in baseball. That holds particularly true for Seattle, which could not only pair Price with current ace Felix Hernandez but would be able to play Zobrist at shortstop, outfield, or even first base.
  9. I still find it slightly hard to believe that he's not going to be traded
  10. Rogers has been quite good lately from the bits I've heard/seen This smells of posturing
  11. Yep. Payback for Kenny Wilson? Aggressive Anthopoulos
  12. I want Wagner back He is now back to pitching they sez
  13. MaahFace just started essentially a new one
  14. Per Rosenthal
  15. Yer dumb! (oh wait. I thought I was singned in to my Spanky99 account)
  16. He could certainly help pad our staff's BB total. I believe we've dropped to 2nd in that category.
  17. I hadn't seen this mentioned anywhere yet
  18. Agree totally Adding a guy like Prado can possibly help the team win games every bit as much as adding Price and would cost much less to acquire I would think. Don't get me wrong, I'd LOVE to have Price going twice in a 5 game ALDS if we made it. However, we have get there first and I don't think we could support the cost in trade that Friedman wants for him.
