A few happened last year during the draft when we didn't realize they weren't allowed I think, but no one cared enough to bother rolling the draft back. It's been made clear this year.
He's projected at 2.2 WAR, not almost 3 WAR. Regardless, there's several players (Granderson in particular) that seem very low. A healthy Sanchez blows away 1.9 WAR too.
Dropping Pearce and picking up Neil Walker would be fantastic imo. Travis could play 2nd vs lefties, a little OF, maybe DH twice a week. Probably keeps him healthy, and improves the team quite a lot.
Who exactly? Ozuna would be the closest (but he had 2 years left instead of 1, which is a big difference), and he basically brought a top 70 prospect and a wildcard. Cutch brought a reliever and a wildcard (and int cap money). All the other interesting guys had considerable control remaining.
It seemed that teams weren't paying much for players this offseason period, whether trade or FA. I don't think we would have gotten that much, maybe not even the equivalent of compensation.
