Easy answer is playoffs are a credibility issue in all sports. But playoffs are money...if s***** 10th place teams keep winning they get to spin it as an underdog story. It would not surprise me if 2 more teams get added to the playoffs if the view is that it is not an advantage to be a top seed...or of course Arizona makes it and ratings are s*** -

Also the Mariners are not new school. Just developed some good pitchers, but still gave 500 PA to Kolten Wong, Aj Pollock and Canzone. They are getting better at not having 7 of the same hitter in the lineup though

When I say Atkins I mean the front office and we know they are hiring bright young minds that understand numbers. There are parts of Atkins which are very anti-Rays or at least he wasn't able to implement Rays type systems. Which is why I have questioned a disconnect between the front office and on field personnel. I know what programs were planned when Angus Mugford came in. None appear to be in place and Angus left in May 2022. Dougie Hamilton was telling me about the great stuff Angus was doing with the Devils...it is the same stuff that was supposed to happen here. I agree that someone needs to go, I just have no idea if it can make a difference

This I can buy into. They need more nerdier nerds. I think it is very posible that Atkins isn't the right guy for the job. Although I loved the moves this season. In the end the F.O. put the team into luxury tax territory and won 2 less games. That might be a firing offense.

Didn't Snell give up a hit to a .180 hitter. That was the right decision too. They would have been down 4 if he stayed in. Same can be said with Berrios. Despite 1000s of scenarios every year of pitchers going from having their best stuff to getting beat around fans assume what happened earlier in the game is going to continue every time. What I am saying is that the Jays Game Plan led to a 2 run game. The game plan of leaving Berrios in is an unknown. The 2 run scenario has to lead to wins...the bats sucked. That is your story

again. All of you are assuming that Berrios doesn't give up a run. People keep saying that Berrios had the best stuff he's had. It was also said in the Yankees game a week ago. He had no hit them and struck out 5. Throwing nothing but strikes. He walked the first batter and then 3 more hits. If Berrios gives up the runs. We are behind and set up poorly on our bullpen matchups. If we keep Berrios in and he gives up none through 5. The bullpen still has to face all those lefties, that we didn't want our pen to face. Maybe they give up the runs. Keeping Berrios in is hoping for a 1-0 win in the fans mind. That's not good game planning either. I can buy it being a different lefty, I can buy it not being Berrios starting. But the jays game plan gave up 2 cheap runs. That is a success. The issue is optics and made up stuff about how it energized the Twins (who would have been energized if they got a s***** single off Berrios too)

The manager has use all the date provided to him and game plan with many scenarios to reduce the runs against. He did that. And once again it worked. Fire him for the offense. The decision was right.
