  1. but from a purely baseball side it's positive for the team. Considering the replacements are like Shawaryn and Weber. Price gets them down closer to getting below the tax but it's still not assured. He also was a top 20 pitcher for the first half last year. It takes someone taking on enough of the payroll that it gets them off the luxury tax run, and not hurting their team chances.
  2. Red Sox are still the projected 3rd best team in the AL (and it's close between them and the Astros and Yankees) and have new management. Never has the ownership group actually said that they will be below the luxury tax. It's what we thought when they brought in Chaim, but I don't see them handing over assets with zero return.
  3. I wouldn't think this changes anything in the Ray plans.
  4. Dodgers haven't even contacted Ryu supposedly.
  5. More important than Cleveland thinking Kluber won't recover...there were obviously not a lot of teams willing to give up much for him. Clase is a 21 year old who has already looked good relieving in the majors and has 6 full years of control. He is essentially Jordan Hicks prior to the injury.
  6. you can't compare a 20 year old to a 34 year old when it comes to injury recovery. The 2021 option now vests at 160 IP assuming he is not on the DL at the end of the season.
  7. Cinci has more of a hitters park than Rogers is.
  8. The guy has a degree in mathematics (I assume cause he is Asian) he admires the way they do things.
  9. That has to annoy his Japanese club, considering the transfer fee is based on his salary. $2.4M is the end amount they pay now
  10. I can imagine it would be a terrible conversation
  11. Throwing high 90's and getting solid numbers. No one took him in the rule 5. I thought his issue was coke though
  12. MLB to increase testing for drugs of abuse (hoping to catch more opioids after the Skaggs death) and have removed marijuana from their list of drugs of abuse.
  13. Pirates are number 3 in the city at least since the 90's. I don't see that changing anytime soon. Is a great stadium to visit.
  14. They get the occasional acrotomophiliac who stumbles into Piratefest expecting to see a pegleg.
  15. Jays have 2 spots remaining and about 3 or so that can be ditched. Not all of the 5 pieces have to fit in the timeline you believe the Jays have. Reds added $25M in payroll last year hoping that Kemp, Puig, Wood and Roark would return them some assets that could help them in the future. Just because that didn't exactly work out (it kind of landed them Bauer, although costing them Trammell). Jays should be thinking about any possible way to improve their team for when they feel they are going to compete.
  16. That would have to hurt the fanbase. Give up one of the main pieces you got for Gerrit Cole, in exchange for the throw in piece you gave up for Drew Hutchison.
  17. He also has 75 employees to pay and 5 offices. It's not like he's a 1 man show taking all the money.
  18. you are correct...it guarantees at least that.
  19. Come full circle with Phil Bickford. Let late inning bullpen outings be his new drug.
  20. Just two more years left on that contract. Time to say to Pujols, join Maddon on the bench full-time. Actually straight up using him only against lefties you can probably get positive value out of him. The 326 PA's he had against righties is about 300 too many. Him and LaStella make a pretty nice tandem at 1B.
  21. f*** a pitcher. Give them a catcher. Stassi and Bemboom are worse than having a pitcher hitting. Jansen and Giles for Jo Adell. Best infield defensively in baseball now?
  22. yeah it is too coincidental that it was the exact same terms. Just a big f*** you to the Nats.
  23. Correct. It was just a fun chart to forward. Beyond The Boxscore was the source but the actual article was terrible and full of hypotheticals. https://www.beyondtheboxscore.com/2019/12/11/21010359/blue-jays-dynasty-drafted-future-war-kris-bryant-aaron-nola-noah-syndergaard-josh-donaldson
